Ohio Bobcats Betting Preview
Ohio opened up the year with wins in 10 of their first 17 outings. Losses in four of the next five came versus Toledo, Ball State, Akron and Kent State. The next six games were a 4-2 run, as Ohio was able to beat Buffalo, Western Michigan, Ball State and Northern Illinois in that time. After a loss to Toledo that makes for a 15-14 overall record in the books this year for Ohio.
On Saturday versus Toledo, the Bobcats were in major trouble at the break, heading onto the court in the second half sporting a rough 41-28 deficit. Ohio got slightly better from there on a 39-38 advantage but it wasn’t nearly enough for the comeback in a 79-67 loss on their home court. Tops on points was Javan Simmons with 20 points, 12 boards and five assists in the defeat.
UMass Minutemen Betting Preview
Over on the UMass side, they were able to win nine of their first 16 games this season. UMass then went 6-2 over eight games, beating Ball State, Western Michigan, Toledo, Buffalo, Eastern Michigan and Central Michigan in that stretch. After that came losses to Coastal Carolina, Akron, Miami-OH, Buffalo, Ball State and Bowling Green for a 15-15 overall record this year.
In the weekend game versus Bowling Green the Minutemen were looking good at the break, sitting in the locker room with a 37-28 advantage. UMass imploded in the second half though, getting outscored 53-25 the rest of the way in an 81-62 road loss. Leading the team in the losing effort was Leonardo Bettiol with 24 points, nine rebounds, four assists and three steals.

Ohio vs UMass Prediction
I’ll stick with Ohio. The Bobcats didn’t play their best versus Toledo over the weekend though, shooting just 39.7 percent from the field with 50 percent (6-of-12) from the line. Ohio was out-rebounded 43-35 along the way as well. The Bobcats are still 2-1 in their last three games but they’ve finished below 70 points in two of those three outings.
These teams last met up back on January 6 in a home victory for Ohio 86-83. In that one the Bobcats managed to shoot very well with 51.7 percent from the field, but got out-rebounded 33-26. The 47.7 percent shooting allowed on defense and the 12 turnovers didn’t help either, but Ohio was saved with 42.9 percent (12-of-28) from 3-point range. The Bobcats can’t rely so heavily on outside shots in the road rematch though.
