Northern Kentucky Norse Betting Preview

The Norse opened on a spotty 1-2 run this year, beating Cincinnati Clermont ahead of losses to Tennessee and East Tennessee State. A win streak came over the next six versus Cumberland KY, Central Michigan, Eastern Kentucky, Wofford, Boston U and Cleveland State, but Northern Kentucky would fall to Fort Wayne in the next game. Through the first 10 outings of the year the Norse posted a 7-3 record.

In Tuesday’s matchup versus Brescia, the Norse jumped out to a dominant 50-21 halftime edge. Northern Kentucky cruised from there on the way to a blowout win 92-53. Leading the scoring was Kael Robinson with 23 points and five rebounds, while Tae Dozier had 13 points with five rebounds. Dan Gherezgher chipped in 12 points with three assists in the win as well.

Bellarmine Knights Betting Preview

Over on the Knights’ side, they started out on a rough stretch themselves, beating only Hanover in the first five games. Bellarmine otherwise lost to Georgia, Kansas State, Wofford and Notre Dame in that time. After wins over the Citadel, Houston Christian and Midway U, the Knights would take another loss versus Murray State. Over their first nine outings that gives Bellarmine a 4-5 run so far this year.

Matched up against Murray State last weekend, the Knights opened the game on a 47-34 deficit. Bellarmine hit a 34-34 stretch the rest of the way in an 81-68 loss. Brian Waddell put up 25 points with six rebounds and five assists along the way, and Jack Karasinski had 21 points with four boards and one assist as the only other team player to finish in double-digits during the defeat.

Northern Kentucky vs Bellarmine Prediction

I’ll stick with the Norse. Northern Kentucky blew right past Brescia in their last outing, hitting 47.5 percent from the field with a 48-29 rebounding edge. The Norse did have 13 turnovers and a modest 10 team assists though, so there’s always room for improvement. In any case, Northern Kentucky has been scoring great since taking consecutive losses early in the season, notching 74 or more points in eight straight games (a 7-1 run).

As for Bellarmine, they had some trouble with a pretty solid Murray State team last weekend despite shooting 51 percent from the field. The Knights were out-rebounded 33-16 in the defeat and gave up 52.6 percent shooting to the Racers on the other side. Still, the Knights are scoring pretty well these days; they’ve hit 68 or more points in eight straight games.

Andrew Jett's Pick: Northern Kentucky Norse -4
