Northern Colorado Bears Betting Preview

The Northern Colorado Bears enter Saturday’s contest with a 14–10 overall win‑loss record, including a 4–7 mark in conference play and a 6–6 record on the road. The Bears have earned wins over Weber State, Eastern Washington and the Idaho Vandals, while dropping recent games to Northern Arizona, Montana State and the Sacramento State Hornets. More recently, in the Northern Colorado Bears 88–74 victory over Weber State earlier this week, Northern Colorado guard Quinn Denker played exceptionally well scoring 31 points on 12 of 19 shooting from the field.

The Northern Colorado Bears average 81.1 points on 48.1 percent shooting from the field (34th in the country) and 35.5 percent shooting from three-point range per game. Turning our attention to the defensive side of the basketball, the Bears are allowing opponents 80 points per contest which ranks an abysmal 304th in the nation.

Senior guard Quinn Denker leads the Northern Colorado Bears averaging 18.5 points, 4.8 rebounds, 7.1 assists and 1 steal per game. Senior forward Brock Wisne contributes 15.7 points, 6.1 rebounds and 2.9 assists per contest providing the Bears with a quality interior presence.

Idaho State Bengals Betting Preview

The Idaho State Bengals enter Saturday’s contest with a 10–14 record, including a 3–8 mark in conference play and a 6–4 record at home. The Bengals have amassed wins over Sacramento State, San Diego, Kansas City and Denver, while losing games to Portland State and Northern Colorado. In the Idaho State Bengals 85–72 loss to the Northern Colorado Bears earlier this season, Idaho State guard Jamison Guerra tallied 26 points (9 of 13 shooting from the field), 2 rebounds, 1assist and 1 steal illustrating his ability to lead the Idaho State offense.

The Idaho State Bengals average 73.9 points on 45.9 percent shooting from the field and 35.2 percent shooting from beyond the arc per game. On the defensive side of the basketball, the Bengals are allowing opponents 76.7 points per game.

Forward Caleb Van De Griend leads Idaho State with 13.7 points and 7.0 rebounds on 58.3 percent shooting from the field per game. Guard Jamison Guerra averages 9.9 points and 2.5 assists per contest providing the Bengals backcourt depth. Forward Connor Hollenbeck adds 13.6 points and 4.8 rebounds per game giving Idaho State a strong presence in the paint.

Why the Northern Colorado Bears Will Win

• Elite offense. The Northern Colorado Bears average 81.1 points on 48.1 percent shooting from the field (34th in the country) per game.

• Confidence. The Northern Colorado Bears defeated the Idaho State 85-72 last month.

• Momentum. The Northern Colorado Bears arrive at tomorrow night’s contest on the heels of three-game winning streak.

Why the Idaho State Bengals Will Win

• Home court advantage. The Bengals are 6–4 at home this season.

• Backcourt production. Guard Jamison Guerra averages 9.9 points and 2.5 assists per contest and is coming off one of his strongest scoring performances of the season.

• Defensive edge. The Idaho State Bengals are allowing 76.7 points per game. Conversely, the Bears are allowing opponents 80 points per contest which ranks an abysmal 304th in the nation.

Northern Colorado vs. Idaho State Prediction

This matchup features Idaho State’s quality backcourt play and home court edge against a Northern Colorado team that has the more explosive offense of the two teams in this matchup. Additionally, Idaho State’s recent defensive issues and inconsistency in conference play are certainly a red flag for me in this contest. The Bengals arrive at this game on a six-game losing streak. For me, the side to be on in this game is the Northern Colorado Bears.
