A summary that ties it all together and produces a favorable betting outcome for the New Orleans vs Vanderbilt game

New Orleans Privateers Betting Preview

The Privateers lost to Kansas State, Troy, Stonehill, and Robert Morris during a rough 2-4 start this year. New Orleans would lose versus Baylor, Nicholls, Iowa, Texas, and LSU over the next five games for a 2-9 start to the season.

Matched up against McNeese on Saturday, the Privateers were blitzed 46-23 in the first half. New Orleans didn’t end up getting any closer on a 40-38 second and fell 86-61. Leading team scorer James White put up 20 points with 10 rebounds in the defeat.

Vanderbilt Commodores Betting Preview

Over on the Vanderbilt side, they opened up the year on a 6-0 run before an 11-point loss to Drake on November 24. The Commodores have since dispatched Tennessee Tech, Virginia Tech, TCU, the Citadel, and Austin Peay.

In the Austin Peay game last Saturday, the Commodores were ahead by a whopping 27 points by halftime. Vanderbilt scored another 38 points the rest of the way in an 85-55 win. Leading team scorer Jason Edwards came off the bench for 16 points and two rebounds.

Why the Vanderbilt Commodores will win

  • Vanderbilt has won each of its last eight games at Memorial Gymnasium against non-AP-ranked opponents.
  • New Orleans has lost each of its last 10 Monday games against non-conference opponents.
  • Vanderbilt has won the first half in each of its last seven games at Memorial Gymnasium against non-AP-ranked opponents.

New Orleans vs Vanderbilt Prediction

I’ll stay with Vanderbilt, but the line’s too thick to mess with. The Commodores rolled right past Austin Peay in their last game, shooting a stellar 60.4 percent from the field with a 40-29 rebounding edge. It was Vanderbilt’s fifth straight win, and they’ve scored 80 or more points in each of those. Over 12 outings so far, the Commodores have turned in 70 or more points in every game. This one likely won’t be any different.

As for New Orleans, they played a sloppy game versus McNeese thanks to 16 turnovers (for 13 Cowboys points). The Privateers have been giving up points in droves lately: 86 or more in four straight games. Vanderbilt should have plenty of open looks so I wouldn’t think they’ll have too many issues heating up the scoreboard here.

Andrew Jett's Pick: Vanderbilt Commodores -31.5
