The New Hampshire Wildcats and the NJIT Highlanders meet Thursday in college basketball action from Wellness and Events Center in Newark. Here’s a New Hampshire vs NJIT prediction. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best New Hampshire vs NJIT pick. We will examine the recent form and player performances for both teams, as well as the recent betting trends and streaks pertaining to this matchup. As we conclude, we will tie it all together with a summary that produces a sensible pick for a favorable betting outcome in this game.

New Hampshire Wildcats Betting Preview

It’s been a tough run for the Wildcats so far. New Hampshire won just two of their first nine games this year, taking victories over only Curry College and Emmanuel MA. After consecutive wins over Boston U and Stonehill, New Hampshire would lose to Saint Louis, Nebraska and Vermont in their next trio. Over 14 games so far this year that gives the Wildcats a 4-10 overall record.

In the Vermont game back on Saturday the Wildcats were in the locker room with a 39-31 deficit. New Hampshire was outscored 41-30 the rest of the way and took the loss 80-61. Leading the team in scoring was KiJan Robinson with 22 points, three rebounds and two assists. Belal El Shakery added 11 points with four assists and six rebounds as well.

NJIT Highlanders Betting Preview

Over on the NJIT side, they won three of their first four games then took losses to Drexel, Navy, Cincinnati, Louisville, Eastern Michigan and High Point before finally beating New Haven. In the last five games it’s been losses to Sacred Heart, Butler and Penn alongside wins over SUNY-Canton and Binghamton. That gives the Highlanders a 6-10 overall record in the books so far.

Matched up against Binghamton on Saturday the Highlanders entered the second half with a three-point deficit. NJIT got it going from there on a 39-28 run and took the comeback road win 73-65. Sebastian Robinson was the team’s top scorer with 22 points, three boards and three assists. Melvyn Ebonkoli added 16 points with eight rebounds and David Bolden had 12 points.

New Hampshire vs NJIT Prediction

I’ll lean toward NJIT but I’m probably not touching it. There’s not a lot to get excited about here if you’re not a fan of either team. That said, the Highlanders are coming off a solid comeback road win over a struggling Binghamton team, shooting 46.3 percent from the field with a 28-22 rebounding edge and a 34-26 advantage on points in the paint. NJIT did pretty well at the line also, hitting 17-of-22 (77.3 percent) there. The good news is that the Highlanders have won two of their last three games with 73 or more points scored in that pair.

As for New Hampshire, they posted a 30-24 rebounding deficit with 14 turnovers and a 42-22 disadvantage in the paint during their loss to Vermont while also surrendering 53.3 percent shooting on defense. The Wildcats have given up 80 or more points in three straight games now (all losses) so I’m not thrilled about their chances at keeping NJIT contained in this one.

Andrew Jett's Pick: NJIT Highlanders -1
