Omaha vs BYU Prediction
I’ll just stick with BYU. The Cougars posted a pretty solid opening-game win on Monday versus Ohio State. In that one BYU shot a smooth 54 percent from the field with 46 percent (11-of-24) from outside and 78 percent (21-of-27) from the line. BYU was competitive on the boards (a 33-32 deficit) and had just eight turnovers along the way. Ohio State kept themselves in it with a nice performance at the line (95 percent on 18-of-19) and shot well themselves (49 percent) so there may be a few things for the Cougars to catch up on defensively in the early-going.
As for Omaha, they were able to get past a pesky Mid-American Christian team at home in their opener on Monday, but it wasn’t the prettiest game in the world. The Mavs shot just 58 percent (18-of-31) from the line and coughed up 15 turnovers, which kept the game a bit closer than it should have been. Still, the shooting from the floor was good (46 percent) and Omaha owned the boards 42-29. Needless to say, the competition really kicks up in game two.
