Monmouth Hawks Betting Preview

The Hawks kicked off their 2025-26 campaign with a fairly simple home matchup versus Caldwell this past week. Monmouth was ahead 54-25 by the end of the first half, then kept it going from there with 42 more points on the way to a 96-68 blowout victory. Topping the scorers were Justin Ray (two assists; 16 minutes) and Stefanos Spartans (eight rebounds; 17 minutes), each with 16 points. Jason Rivera-Torres also finished with double-digits in the victory effort, logging 13 points with four assists and seven boards in 25 minutes of action on the floor.

In game two back on Saturday versus La Salle, the Hawks took their first loss of the young season. Monmouth trailed 38-35 by the end of the first half, then limped to a 73-60 loss on a 36-25 deficit from there. In the defeat, the Hawks’ leading scorer was Jason Rivera-Torres with 20 points, eight rebounds and two assists. The only other team player to finish in double-digits was Andrew Ball with 15 points and nine rebounds in 35 minutes of work during the loss.

Seton Hall Pirates Betting Preview

Over on the Seton Hall side, they’ve got three games in the bag so far this year. The first came last Monday versus Saint Peter’s. In that one the Pirates were up 41-28 by the end of the first half and closed on a 36-22 run from there for a 77-50 blowout win at home. Tops in scoring was Najal Hines with 12 points and nine rebounds, while Stephon Payne added 11 points with three boards. Game two was a tighter affair versus Wagner last Friday, as Seton Hall was down 31-30 by the break. The Pirates fought back in the second half and managed a 68-61 win in the end, though. Elijah Fisher topped the team with 19 points and four boards, while TK Simpkins had 15 points and two rebounds. Adam Clark added 11 points with six assists and four rebounds in 32 minutes of work during the winning effort.

Seton Hall took on Fairfield for game three on Monday. This time the Pirates were up 35-28 going into the second half and closed on a 47-31 run for an 82-59 victory. Topping the scorers was AJ Staton-McCray with 13 points, two assists and two rebounds. Three different players had 10 points in the win, including Najal Hines with 10 points and 10 rebounds in 23 minutes.

Monmouth vs Seton Hall Prediction

I’ll stick with Seton Hall. The Pirates have one relative close call in the bag so far this year, but they’ve remained unscathed through three games. Seton Hall didn’t shoot great versus Fairfield in their last game (40.9 percent) but hit 23-of-28 (82.1 percent) from the line and had a sizable 40-12 advantage on points in the paint. Seton Hall has 68 or more points in all three games this year, with 77 or more in two of those outings. They’ve held opponents to fewer than 62 points in each game as well, so it’ll be tough for Monmouth to find much room here. The Hawks are coming off just 60 points versus La Salle so I’m not high on their scoring chances.

Andrew Jett's Pick: Seton Hall Pirates -13
