Monmouth Hawks Betting Preview
Last year Monmouth took a fairly significant step back from their 18 wins in the 2023-24 campaign. The Hawks limped to a 13-20 overall record in 2024-25, notching a much-better 10-8 run in the CAA games. That would put the Hawks behind Towson, UNC Wilmington, Charleston, William & Mary and Campbell in the standings, near the middle of the pack. After wins over Hofstra, Northeastern and Elon late in the season, Monmouth finished off with a road loss to Drexel. In the CAA Tournament, the Hawks beat Hofstra in their first game before losing to Charleston in overtime on March 9 to finish off their season for good.
The Hawks opened up their 2025-26 campaign with a pretty routine home matchup versus Caldwell this week. Monmouth was up 54-25 by the end of the first half, then kept it going from there with 42 more points on the way to a 96-68 blowout victory. Topping the scorers were Justin Ray (two assists; 16 minutes) and Stefanos Spartans (eight rebounds; 17 minutes), each with 16 points. Jason Rivera-Torres also finished with double-digits in the victory effort, logging 13 points with four assists and seven boards in 25 minutes of action on the floor.
La Salle Explorers Betting Preview
Over on the La Salle side, they also regressed slightly last season. The Explorers had gone 16-17 in 2023-24, but only managed to hit a 14-19 pace in the 2024-25 run. La Salle added a 5-13 effort in the Atlantic 10, which put the team ahead of only Fordham in the standings. The Explorers had a rough eight-game losing streak going late in the year before beating Saint Josephs’ at home. In the Atlantic 10 Tournament, La Salle beat UMass in the opener before falling to Saint Joseph’s in game two on March 13.
This year La Salle opened things up with a home matchup against Coppin State on Wednesday. The Explorers jumped out to a 47-23 edge and never looked back on a 40-36 second half run in an 87-59 victory. Ashton Walker was tops with 18 points and seven rebounds, while Jaeden Marshall had 15 points, four rebounds and four assists in 24 minutes. Jerome Brewer added 14 points with three boards in 28 minutes of work as well.

Monmouth vs La Salle Prediction
I’ll likely stick with Monmouth. I could probably go either way on this one, though. It’ll be an interesting matchup. That said, the Hawks didn’t have any problems with an overmatched Caldwell team in their opening game, shooting 49.3 percent with a 52-29 rebounding edge and 19 assists. The only real gripes were the 15-of-23 (65.2 percent) from the line and the 14 turnovers, but much of that can be attributed to garbage minutes I suppose.
As for La Salle, they rolled right past Coppin State in their opener thanks to 49.1 percent shooting, a 42-20 rebounding advantage and a 34-26 edge in the paint. the Explorers added 18 team assists but also had 14 turnovers, which is a bit high for an easy game. In any case, La Salle should match up pretty well in this one and I like a competitive game Saturday. It’ll be a fun one to watch at least.
