Missouri State Bears Betting Preview

The Bears didn’t have the greatest start this year, going just 4-5 over their first nine games. Missouri State would then beat Oral Roberts, Lindenwood, Delaware, UTEP and New Mexico State over the next five, but they’ve since gone just 1-3. The losses in that time were to Kennesaw State, Western Kentucky and Middle Tennessee. Over 18 games that gives the Bears a 10-8 record.

In the Middle Tennessee game last weekend the Bears were in the locker room looking up at a two-point deficit 38-36. Missouri State managed to tie it up from there and forced overtime. After two extra periods however, the Bears finished with a 90-87 road loss. Both Keith Palek (eight rebounds; seven assists) and Michael Osei-Bonsu (six rebounds; one assist) finished with 20 points apiece.

New Mexico State Aggies Betting Preview

Over on the Aggies’ side, they kicked off the season with a great 6-0 run then lost five of the next seven versus South Alabama, Abilene Christian, Tulsa, Florida International and Missouri State. Since then it’s been a 2-2 run with wins over Western Kentucky and Delaware around losses to Middle Tennessee and Liberty. Across the first 17 games of the season the Aggies have a 10-7 run in the books.

Matched up against Delaware on Saturday the Aggies went into the second half with a dominant 49-30 edge on the road. New Mexico State cruised from there on a 48-38 advantage and took the win in the end 97-68. Jemel Jones led the team on 19 points with five assists and four rebounds while Julius Mims doubled up on 13 points, 10 rebounds and two assists in 30 minutes of work.

Missouri State vs New Mexico State Prediction

I’ll stay with New Mexico State, but this should be a pretty good matchup regardless. The Aggies made short work of a struggling Delaware team in a road matchup last weekend, shooting 57.1 percent from the field, 50 percent (14-of-28) from outside and a perfect 11-of-11 at the line. The 31-22 rebounding edge and four turnovers were nice as well. New Mexico State is just 2-2 in their last four games but they’ve scored 71 or more points in three of those.

The last time these teams met up back on January 4, New Mexico State took a road loss 89-82. The Aggies shot well from the field (45.9 percent) and had a 32-27 rebounding edge with a 32-26 advantage in the paint. Missouri State won the game at the line though, hitting 29-of-39 (74.4 percent) to the Aggies’ 19-of-23 (82.6 percent). The 10-of-21 (47.6 percent) from 3-point range helped the Bears quite a bit also. This one’s likely to be another competitive outing.

Andrew Jett's Pick: New Mexico State Aggies -6
