Miami-Ohio RedHawks Betting Preview

The RedHawks have gotten off to an up-and-down start this year, with a 3-2 run through five games. Miami-OH’s losses have come versus Wright State and Michigan. Otherwise, it’s been wins over Appalachian State, MD Eastern Shore, and Siena.

Matched up against Siena on Monday, the RedHawks held an 11-point edge by the break. Miami-Ohio kept the pace with 38 more points from there in a 70-58 win. Leading team scorers Peter Suder and Kam Craft each had 18 points with a combined 10 rebounds.

Mercer Bears Betting Preview

Over on the Mercer side, they opened up on a 2-3 stretch through their first five. The Bears’ two wins were over VA Lynchburg and Trinity Baptist. Otherwise, it was losses to DePaul, South Alabama, and South Carolina in that span.

In Monday’s matchup with Jacksonville, Mercer was in trouble with a 40-30 deficit by halftime. The Bears stormed back on a 44-34 run and eventually took a thrilling 90-89 overtime win. Ahmad Robinson led the team on 25 points with four assists in 43 minutes of work.

Miami-OH vs Mercer Prediction

I’ll probably try Miami-OH here. The RedHawks played a pretty good all-around game versus an okay Siena team on Monday. Miami-Ohio posted 43.6 percent shooting with a 37-27 rebounding edge and 16 team assists in that one, but did cough up 13 turnovers. The RedHawks have scored 67 or more points in every game so far, and 70 or more points in each of their three wins. It would be a great sign if Miami-OH gets off to a hot start here and finishes past the 30-point mark in the first half.

As for Mercer, they were a bit of a surprise in the second half versus Jacksonville in their last outing. The Bears ended up shooting a stellar 58.1 percent from the field, but they did get blitzed on the boards 41-31 and committed 18 turnovers in a sloppy overall game (34 total turnovers). Tuesday’s matchup has the makings of a pretty high total as well. Considering Mercer has given up 75 or more points in four of their last five games, I like Miami-Ohio’s scoring chances.

Andrew Jett's Pick: Miami-OH RedHawks -3.5
