Miami Hurricanes Betting Preview
The Hurricanes were on a bit of a skid back in late January, coming off a 2-3 run with losses to Clemson, Florida State and Cal. Miami beat Boston College, North Carolina, NC State, Virginia Tech, Florida State, Boston College and SMU in the next eight, then split two with Louisville before a loss in the conference tourney to Virginia. Miami then took out Missouri for a 26-8 overall record.
In the Missouri matchup on Friday the Hurricanes held the slimmest of leads 27-26 going into the second half. Miami hit a 53-40 run the rest of the way however, eventually powering out an 80-66 victory in the end. Tops in scoring was Malik Reneau with 24 points, six rebounds and three assists. Over on the Purdue side, they cruised through the first 18 games with only a loss to Iowa State, then fell to UCLA, Illinois and Indiana. After four more wins the Boilermakers lost to Michigan, Michigan State, Ohio State and Wisconsin in the next six, but then ran the table versus Northwestern, Nebraska, UCLA and Michigan in the conference tourney before a win over Queens.
Matched up against Queens in the First Round of the NCAA Tournament on Friday the Boilermakers were up comfortably 45-33 going into the second half. Miami vs Purdue Prediction
I’ll lean toward Purdue. This will be a good test for how the Boilermakers are faring in this national tournament following an easy win over Queens in the opener. In that one Purdue hit an awesome 63.1 percent from the field with 58.3 percent (14-of-24) from outside and a 37-17 rebounding edge. The Boilermakers did post 12 turnovers and 46.2 percent shooting allowed on defense though, so there’s plenty to clean up. Purdue is cooking after that Big Ten Tournament championship run however.
As for Miami, they held Missouri to just 35.1 percent shooting from the field in their First Round win. The Hurricanes added a 42-29 rebounding edge but missed some shots from the line on 58.6 percent (17-of-29). Miami is a spotty 2-2 in their last four games with 73 or more points surrendered in three of those.
