Loyola Maryland has won the last two games played between the two teams. When these two teams faced off last match, Loyola Maryland was able to secure the 68-69 victory.

Loyola Looks for Second Straight Win

Loyola faced off against Lehigh in the last game and they scored 80 points on the way to the six-point victory. At halftime, they were up 37–34 and they never looked back on the way to the victory. Jordan Stiemke put up 25 points and seven rebounds. There were three different players that put up at least 14 points. Two games ago against Holy Cross, Loyola scored 72 points, but it wasn’t enough as they gave up 74 points and ended up losing by two points. Three games ago against DePaul, it was the defense that struggled giving up 85 points and they ended up losing by 19 points.

Loyola on the season is averaging 71.1 points while their defense is giving up 70.7 points per game. The offense is ranked 277th while the defense is ranked 167th. As a team they are shooting 75.2 percent from the field which is 77th in the league. Milos Ilic is averaging 14.8 points while shooting 51.7 percent from the field and 25 percent from behind the three point line.

Why Loyola Will Beat Army

  • Army has lost each of its last seven games against Conference opponents.
  • Loyola (MD) has won three of its last four night games against non-AP-ranked opponents.
  • Loyola (MD) has won the first half in three of its last four road night games against the Patriot League.

Army Is Struggling

Army is struggling heading into this game and they have lost two games in a row. Two games ago Army faced off Colgate 71-59 and in the last game against Boston University, Army scored 63 points but the defense gave up 71 points. Guard Jalen Rucker had a strong game putting up 17 points, two rebounds, and two assists. There were three different players that put up at least 13 points. At halftime, they were down 40-35 and in the second half, they couldn’t bounce back.

Army is averaging 77.4 points while their defense is giving up 76.6 points per game. The offense is ranked 136th in the league while the defense is ranked 309th. Guard Jalen Rucker has been the top player for Army this season and is averaging 18 points while shooting 41.2 percent from the field and 38.2 percent from behind the three point line. There are four different players that are averaging at least 10.9 points per game.

Loyola vs Army Prediction

Away from home this season, Loyola has actually found a little bit of success and I believe that success can continue here. Army likes to push the pace, but their defense has been inconsistent and their lack of defense is going to be the difference here. Army’s defense is giving up 76.6 points per game and they are going to really struggle to defend here. Look for Loyola’s offense to get out to a fast start, Army’s defense will have no answer, and the visiting team will pick up a cover here.

Shane Mickle's Pick: Loyola +2.5
