Over on the Delaware side, they haven’t been able to win consecutive games all season long and started out the year on a 5-9 run. The Blue Hens would record losses in each of the next six games versus Sam Houston, Louisiana Tech, UTEP, New Mexico State and Liberty, then beat New Mexico State before another loss to UTEP. In 21 games that gives the Blue Hens a 6-15 record.
In the UTEP rematch on the road back on Saturday the Blue Hens were within two points at the break 27-25. Delaware was outscored 43-30 the rest of the way however, and ultimately lost the game 70-55. Christian Bliss led the way in the losing effort with 17 points, six rebounds and three assists. Tyler Houser put up 15 points with nine rebounds and two assists in 37 minutes as well.

I’ll stay with Liberty. The Flames didn’t have much issue with a decent Middle Tennessee squad in a road matchup last weekend, shooting an excellent 61.5 percent from the field with a 44-26 advantage on points in the paint and just five turnovers. Liberty has won 12 straight games now, scoring 72 or more points in 10 of those outings.
These teams last met up back on January 24 in a 67-51 home victory for the Flames. In that one Liberty shot 47.1 percent from the field with a 28-25 advantage on the boards, a 26-24 edge on points in the paint and just six turnovers. The free throw shooting (8-of-13 for 61.5 percent) could have been better though, and Liberty gave up 46.3 percent shooting on defense. Still, the Flames should have just about every advantage in this road rematch if they play to their capabilities.
