Lamar Cardinals Betting Preview

Last year Lamar managed to go 19-14 overall with a 12-6 run in Southland Conference play. The Cardinals finished behind McNeese, Texas A&M-CC, and Nicholls in the standings. Their final game was a loss to McNeese in the conference tournament.

In their first action of the 2024-25 season, the Cardinals took on Paul Quinn. After a 53-23 halftime edge, Lamar scored another 60 points on the way to a 113-42 blowout victory. Andrew Holifield was the top scorer with 20 points and five rebounds.

Texas A&M Aggies Betting Preview

Over on the Texas A&M side, they were outscored in the second half of their opener 35-32 by UCF and ultimately fell 64-61 in a stunning result. The Aggies’ lead scorer was Pharrel Payne with 15 points and six rebounds. Wade Taylor added 13 points and seven assists.

Texas A&M got down to business in game two. The Aggies were up 50-24 on Texas A&M-Commerce by halftime and ended up winning 87-55. Zhuric Phelps was tops this time with his 18 points and five rebounds. Both Henry Coleman and Manny Obaseki added 14 points apiece. Texas A&M will take on Ohio State after this one.

Lamar vs Texas A&M Prediction

I’ll stick with Texas A&M. The Aggies were knocked off balance with the opener loss to UCF, but recovered well in the next game for a decisive win over Texas A&M-Commerce. Texas A&M shot 55.7 percent from the field with a 41-24 rebounding edge in that one, but they weren’t great from the line (14-of-24).

As for Lamar, they got just about everyone in on the action during their opener win over Paul Quinn. Six different Cardinals players finished in double-figures there, and everyone who stepped on the floor had at least one rebound. Monday’s game will be another story, however, and I don’t expect Lamar to hang around for too long.

Andrew Jett's Pick: Texas A&M Aggies -25.5
