La Salle got started this season with a win, taking it 65-52 over American in the opener. Game two was another victory, this time 81-60 versus Lafayette. On November 12 the Explorers kept it going with a 93-77 win over Cornell.
On Saturday in their latest outing versus Drexel, the Explorers played their closest game yet. La Salle was up 43-31 at the break, then got outscored 37-28 from there in a tight 71-68 win. Jahlil White was the leading scorer with 19 points and six rebounds.

Over on the Tritons’ side, they’ve played four games to a 2-2 run thus far. UC San Diego lost to San Diego State 63-58 in their opener. The next pair were winners though, 94-76 over Pepperdine and 64-54 against Sacramento State.

I’ll probably just stay with La Salle. The Explorers are coming off a close call versus Drexel, shooting 41.9 percent from the field with a 37-36 rebounding deficit and 10 turnovers. La Salle was quite good from the line though (11-of-12) and had 16 team assists. They’ve hit 71 or more points in three straight games now.
As for UC San Diego, they gave up 56.3 percent shooting from the field with a 33-20 rebounding deficit against Seattle in their latest loss. The Tritons did improve as the game went on, but they’ve been highly erratic so far this year. I like La Salle better on the cover/win here.
