We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best La Salle vs Loyola pick. We will examine the recent form and player performances for both teams, as well as the recent betting trends and streaks pertaining to this matchup. As we conclude, we will tie it all together with a summary that produces a sensible pick for a favorable betting outcome in this game.

La Salle Explorers Betting Preview

The Explorers have had a pretty rough season so far. La Salle won just four of their first 10 games this year, then hit a 1-7 run over the next eight games. The only victory in that time came versus Rhode Island on January 7. The next four were a 2-2 run with wins over St. Bonaventure and Dayton ahead of losses to Fordham and Saint Joseph’s, giving the Explorers a 7-15 record this year.

In the Saint Joseph’s matchup on Saturday the Explorers were sitting on a 36-29 disadvantage by halftime. La Salle didn’t get any closer than that, posting a 31-29 deficit along the way to a 67-58 loss on their home court. Rob Dockery was the only player on the team to finish in double-digits, notching a double-double on 26 points with 14 rebounds and five assists in the loss.

Loyola Ramblers Betting Preview

Over on the Loyola side, they haven’t had much success this season either. The Ramblers lost seven of their first eight games, then hit a 4-2 stretch with wins over Central Michigan, Princeton, Santa Clara and Rhode Island. Next came losses to Dayton, Davidson, George Washington, George Mason, Dayton, St. Bonaventure, Duquesne and Saint Joseph’s, giving the Ramblers a 5-18 record so far.

In the VCU matchup back on Friday the Ramblers entered the second half with a tie game 46-46. Loyola couldn’t keep pace from there however, falling far behind on a 43-29 run and eventually losing on the road 89-75. Miles Rubin led the team on his 21 points with 10 rebounds and Xavier Amos had 18 points with eight rebounds and one assist in the losing effort.

La Salle vs Loyola Prediction

I’ll stay with La Salle I suppose. Probably not touching this one, though; there’s not much to get excited about. The Explorers had a pretty dismal shooting night versus St. Joseph’s with just 38.8 percent from the field, 15.8 percent (3-of-19) from outside and 37.5 percent (3-of-8) from the line. The 40-16 advantage on points in the paint and solid eight turnovers were just about the only positives to take away from the loss. La Salle has managed to score only 58 points in each of their last two games.

As for Loyola, they lost the handle against VCU in the second half of their latest defeat. The Ramblers shot well though (46.7 percent) and had a 40-28 advantage in the paint. Loyola has now lost nine straight games, giving up 70 or more points in all of those outings. This matchup should at least be fairly competitive, though.

Andrew Jett's Pick: La Salle Explorers +2
