Kansas City Roos Betting Preview
This year the Roos kicked things off with a couple of wins versus overmatched teams: 91-68 versus Hannibal-LaGrange and 124-36 over Kansas Christian. UMKC would lose the next pair to Iowa State and Creighton in blowouts, though.
The Kangaroos got back into the win column in a big way versus Calvary on Monday. UMKC posted advantages of 64-9 and 55-10 in each half for a 119-19 blowout win. Jamar Brown led the team with 22 points with seven boards.
American Eagles Betting Preview
Over on the Eagles’ side, they’ve only managed one win so far this year. That victory came 67-55 versus Harvard. Otherwise, it was losses to La Salle 65-52, Siena 74-66, and North Carolina 107-55 in the first quartet of outings.
The Eagles took another loss in their last game, this time versus High Point. American was down by 10 points at the break, then hit a 44-41 advantage from there for an 80-73 result. Elijah Stephens was tops on the team with 19 points and four assists.

- American University has lost the first half in four of its last five night games against non-AP-ranked opponents.
UMKC vs American Prediction
I’ll probably lean toward UMKC. Probably also not touching it, though. We haven’t seen the Roos in any comparable matchups yet this year so it’s hard to tell where they stand. Kansas City has three blowout wins versus overmatched teams and two blowout losses versus top-shelf national talent. On paper, UMKC should match up more closely—yet still favorably—against American.
Speaking of the Eagles, they’ve been fairly close in a couple of games but they’ve got just one win to show for themselves this season. All things considered I like American to hang around for a while before the Roos take the cover in the end.
