James Madison Dukes Betting Preview
The Dukes went just 2-3 in their first five games, beating only Washington and Lee and Coppin State in that time. Otherwise it was losses to Akron, Longwood and Long Island U. Since then it’s been a much-improved 5-1 run for JMU; they’ve lost to only George Mason in that stretch. The wins otherwise were over Towson, FIU, Omaha, NC Central and Norfolk State. That gives the Dukes a 7-4 overall run across the first 11 outings of the year.
In the Norfolk State matchup on Saturday the Dukes went into the second half with a three-point edge. James Madison was able to hang on from there, emerging with a 68-67 win in the end. Justin McBride was the only player in double-digits though, scoring nearly half the team’s points (33) alongside eight rebounds in 31 minutes of work on the court in the win.

James Madison vs Old Dominion Prediction
I’ll stay with James Madison I suppose. The Dukes eked one out versus a middling Norfolk State team in their last outing, despite giving up 53.8 percent shooting and hitting a rough 12-of-22 (54.5 percent) from the line alongside a 42-30 deficit in the paint. James Madison ended up with 14 steals off 15 Spartans turnovers though, which really helped their cause. The Dukes are 2-1 in their last three games but they’ve been below 69 points in each of those outings as well. I’d like to see them put up a better total in this one.
As for Old Dominion, they posted 16 turnovers in a pretty sloppy effort versus George Mason this past weekend. The Monarchs shot a tepid 41.5 percent from the field in that one and got outscored in the paint 38-26 along the way. ODU has given up 73 or more points in five straight games (all losses) with 86 or more in three of those five.
