Jackson State Tigers Betting Preview

This year the Tigers have come up empty through seven games so far. Jackson State has dropped games to Houston, High Point, Xavier, Vanderbilt, Western Kentucky, Kentucky, and Lipscomb in succession for a 0-7 record.

In their latest game against Lipscomb back on November 24, the Tigers came out of the locker room with a 30-24 deficit. Things got worse from there on a 47-29 run and Jackson State lost 77-53. Jayme Mitchell was the top scorer with 16 points and six boards.

St. Louis Billikens Betting Preview

Over on the Billikens’ side, they got off to a 2-2 start in their first four. The losses were versus Santa Clara and Wichita State; the wins were over Avila and LMU. St. Louis has since beaten Quinnipiac and UMass Lowell in their last pair.

In the UMass Lowell game back on Wednesday, the Billikens were up 55-43 after one half. St. Louis closed on a 47-38 deficit but held on for the win 93-90. Isaiah Swope had 26 points, while Gibson Jimerson added 24 points in 38 minutes. Saint Louis will play against San Francisco and Chicago State following this game.

Jackson State vs St. Louis Prediction

I’ll lean toward St. Louis. The line’s probably too thick to mess with, though. The Billikens had a pretty rough second half against UMass Lowell in their last outing but eventually shot a nice 60.7 percent from the field. The trouble is, St. Louis also gave up 59 percent shooting on the other side. Still, the Billikens are scoring quite well this year with 77 or more points in five of six outings.

As for Jackson State, they’ve got a couple of pretty high-scoring games in the bag but they’ve also been below 63 points in five of their seven games. To be fair, the Tigers have also played some tough teams this season. All things considered though, St. Louis should have more than enough offense to stay far in front here if they’re playing well.

Andrew Jett's Pick: St. Louis Billikens -19.5
