Over on the Oakland side, they didn’t start out the year very well either, going just 1-5 over their first six games overall. Oakland posted a four-game win streak after that, then hit the skids on a 1-3 run that featured losses to Northern Iowa, Michigan State and Wright State. The Grizzlies hit a 4-1 stretch after that however, taking out Youngstown State, Robert Morris, Cleveland State and Milwaukee for a 10-9 run through their first 19 games.
Matched up against Green Bay on Sunday, the Grizzlies carried a 37-31 edge into the second half. Oakland turned it on from there on a 51-32 run and took the blowout win in the end 88-63. Tuburu Naivalurua led the team with his 26 points and 10 rebounds alongside two assists. Isaac Garrett also doubled up on 17 points and 10 rebounds while Ziare Wells had 14 points with five boards and three assists.

I’ll try Oakland in this one. The Grizzlies rolled right past a middling Green Bay team in a road victory this past weekend, shooting a nice 54.1 percent from the field with a 35-20 rebounding advantage and a 50-26 edge on points in the paint. Oakland could have been a bit better from the line (16-of-26 for 61.5 percent) but that’s just about the only thing to complain about. The Grizzlies are cruising right now on a 5-1 run. They’ve got 73 or more points in all six of those games and 84 or more in five of them.
As for IUPUI, they shot a solid 46.4 percent from the field with a 48-32 edge in the paint during their loss to Detroit this past weekend. The Jaguars went just 6-of-29 (20.7 percent) from outside though, and made just seven free throws out of 10 in comparison to the Titans’ 26-of-30 (86.7 percent). The 13 turnovers didn’t help, either. IUPUI is scoring pretty well overall lately though, and could give Oakland some trouble if they can keep the shooting percentage up.
