As we conclude, we will tie it all together with a summary that produces a sensible pick for a favorable betting outcome in this game.

Indiana Hoosiers Betting Preview

Last season the Hoosiers managed to equal their win total from 2023-24, and similarly ended the season in disappointment. Indiana went 19-13 overall with a 10-10 run in a very difficult Big Ten. That effort would put the Hoosiers behind Michigan State, Maryland, Michigan, UCLA, Wisconsin, Purdue, Illinois and Oregon in the standings, near the middle of the pack. Indiana entered the postseason on a promising 5-1 run and matched up against Oregon in the first game of the Big Ten Tournament. The Hoosiers ended up falling in that one 72-59 however, ending their season for good on March 13.

In their first action of the season on Wednesday, Indiana played Alabama A&M at home. The Hoosiers posted a 58-22 run in the first half, then scored 40 more points from there in a 98-51 blowout victory. Tops in scoring was Reed Bailey with 21 points and five rebounds, while Lamar Wilkerson added 19 points with two boards and two assists. Tucker DeVries chipped in a double-double with 18 points, 11 rebounds and four assists in the winning effort.

Marquette Golden Eagles Betting Preview

Over on the Marquette side, they kicked things off this year versus Albany on Monday. The Eagles went into the locker room with a 30-21 edge and finished off on a 50-32 run for an 80-53 blowout win at home. Leading the way in scoring was Chase Ross with 15 points, five assists and four rebounds. Zaide Lowery added 13 points with four rebounds and two assists, and Damarius Owens also reached double-figures with 11 points and four rebounds.

Marquette’s second game of the season came on Wednesday versus Southern. Also a home matchup, this one was a little closer. The Eagles were up by six at halftime and pulled away on a 57-45 run for a 100-82 victory in the end. Ross was tops this time with 23 points, six boards and six assists in 28 minutes. Caedin Hamilton, Lowery and Sean Jones each had 12 points and two rebounds in the winning home effort as well.

Indiana vs Marquette Prediction

I’ll take a stab on Marquette here. The Golden Eagles didn’t have too many issues beating Albany in their first game—but there are plenty of statistical areas to clean up. Marquette shot a tepid 41.4 percent from the field and 20.8 percent (5-of-24) from 3-point range, along with a slim 41-39 rebounding edge and 14 turnovers. At least some of that can be attributed to garbage time shenanigans, but it’s worth noting. Game two went a little more smoothly with just nine turnovers and more starter minutes, but Marquette had trouble up front versus Southern. The Eagles were tied 39-39 in rebounding and got edged in the paint 42-38.

As for Indiana, they rolled past an overmatched Alabama A&M squad in their first game with 62.1 percent from the field, 41.7 percent (10-of-24) from outside and a perfect 16-of-16 from the line. The 39-15 rebounding edge and 52-20 advantage in the paint sealed things up for a blowout. Marquette needs to get it together under the basket, but I think they can sneak in for a cover if all goes well.

Andrew Jett's Pick: Marquette Golden Eagles +1.5
