Over on the Seattle side, they opened their campaign last Monday versus Denver. The Redhawks were ahead by five going into the second half then scored another 42 points on the way to an 84-73 win. Brayden Maldonado was tops on 28 points with five rebounds and two assists while Will Heimbrodt had 24 points and eight boards in 34 minutes. Maleek Arington reached double-digits as well with 10 points, four assists and two rebounds. In game two Seattle took on Cal Poly and trailed by one point at halftime. The Redhawks didn’t get closer in the end, falling 73-71. Will Heimbrodt led the team with 20 points, two rebounds and three assists, while Brayden Maldonado was the only other player in double-digits during the losing effort with 17 points, five rebounds and one assist in 32 minutes of work on the floor.
Seattle played Eastern Washington on Wednesday and got back into the win column. The Redhawks were up 48-37 going into the second half and cruised on 46 more points from there in a 94-67 blowout victory. Brayden Maldonado had 26 points, four boards and three assists in the win, while Junseok Yeo had 17 points and five rebounds in 26 minutes of action. Austin Maurer chipped in with 13 points and two rebounds in 17 minutes during the victory.

I’ll stick with Seattle. I’m probably avoiding this one in reality, though. That said, the Redhawks beat up on a struggling Eastern Washington team in their latest outing, posting a nice 64.9 percent shooting, 55 percent (11-of-20) from outside and a 33-26 rebounding edge. Seattle rebounded well (33) and had 21 team assists, but the 16 turnovers could have been much better. Still, it was a nice turnaround after a tough (and very close) game two loss to Cal Poly over the weekend. Seattle has 71 or more points in all three games so far, and 84 or more in their two wins.
