Houston Christian Huskies Betting Preview
The Huskies were near the .500 mark back in late January but it’s been a rough run since then. Houston Christian opened up on a 4-10 stretch with wins over only Avila, Rockford, East Texas A&M, and LA-Monroe. The Huskies were able to win six of the next seven though, falling to McNeese State among wins over Stephen F. Austin, Incarnate Word, UTRGV, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, New Orleans, and SE Louisiana. Since then, however, the Huskies have won over only New Orleans and Stephen F. Austin. It’s been losses to Incarnate Word, Nicholls, SE Louisiana, UTRGV, Texas A&M-CC, Lamar, Northwestern State, and East Texas A&M otherwise in that time, giving the Huskies a rough 12-19 overall run through 31 games this year.
In the East Texas A&M road matchup on Monday, the Huskies came out of the locker room facing a 34-18 deficit. Houston Christian got better from there on a 41-29 advantage but still took the loss 63-59 in the end. D’Aundre Samuels led the team with 18 points and two steals in 18 minutes off the bench. Julian Mackey added 11 points with seven rebounds and two blocks, while Trent Johnson had 10 points with eight rebounds, three blocks, and two steals.
Texas A&M-CC Islanders Betting Preview
Over on the Islanders’ side, they’ve had some bumps here and there this season but have been able to stay well above the .500 mark overall. Texas A&M-CC went 7-6 in their first 13 games, then beat Schreiner, SE Louisiana, New Orleans, UTRGV, Northwestern State, and Incarnate Word in the next six. A 2-5 run came next with losses to Houston Christian, McNeese, UTRGV, Stephen F. Austin, and Lamar. Since then it’s been a 4-2 stretch with losses to McNeese and Nicholls among wins over Incarnate Word, Houston Christian, SE Louisiana, and New Orleans. In total that gives the Islanders a 19-13 overall record across 32 games this season.
Matched up against the Privateers back on Monday, the Islanders stormed out to a 52-33 halftime lead. Texas A&M-CC maintained form from there on a 43-29 run and cruised to the blowout victory 95-62. Owen Dease led the team with 17 points with three rebounds, while Shilo Jackson came off the bench for 16 points, five rebounds, and one assist in 24 minutes. Kam Parker chipped in 14 points with six rebounds and four assists as well.

Houston Christian vs Texas A&M-CC Prediction
I’ll lean toward Texas A&M-CC. Probably not touching this one, though. The Islanders buried New Orleans in their last appearance, shooting a stellar 63.3 percent from the field with 31 rebounds and just eight turnovers. That gives Texas A&M-CC four wins in the last six games, but they’ve been below 70 points in seven of their last eight overall.
These teams split the season series, with Houston Christian taking the home win 76-72 on January 20 and Texas A&M-CC returning the favor 68-62 on February 17. I could see either team getting hot and controlling this one overall, but Texas A&M-CC is probably the stronger chance.
