Hofstra cruised in the second half on a 29-25 run and took the victory in the end 71-49. Biggie Patterson led the team with his 20 points and three rebounds while Cruz Davis added 16 points with five rebounds and five assists in 33 minutes during the victory.
Charleston Cougars Betting Preview
Over on the Charleston side, they managed a 4-6 run over their first 10 games, then hit a nice seven-game win streak in December/January. The Cougars are 5-3 since then with wins over Campbell, Elon, Hofstra, Northeastern and North Carolina A&T among losses to Towson, Stony Brook and UNC Wilmington. Over 25 games this year that gives the Cougars a 16-9 run.
In the Monday matchup versus UNC Wilmington the Cougars exited the first half with a 10-point deficit 42-32. Charleston was outscored by two points the rest of the way and didn’t get any closer in an eventual 76-64 loss on their home floor. Jlynn Counter put up 20 points with six rebounds and three assists while Christian Reeves doubled up on 13 points and 11 boards.

I’ll lean toward Hofstra. The Pride didn’t have any issues with a middling Towson team in their latest win, posting a 40-31 edge on the boards, a 24-16 advantage in the paint and allowing just 29.6 percent shooting from the field on defense. Hofstra has won three straight games now (following five straight losses), scoring 71 or more points in all three.
These teams last saw each other back on January 29 in a 66-64 home loss for the Pride. In that one Hofstra shot pretty miserably at just 33.3 percent and they got outscored 38-28 in the paint. The Pride only made five trips to the line (making two for 40 percent) as well. Hofstra has a lot to sharpen up for the road rematch but I like them to get a little revenge here. Should be a good matchup at least.
