High Point Panthers Betting Preview
The Panthers opened the season on a nice run, going 7-1 over their first eight games. High Point would lose two of the next three outings versus Southern Illinois and App State, then hit a win streak over Mary Baldwin, La Salle, Bryant, Pfeiffer, UNC Asheville, Longwood, Gardner-Webb and Charleston Southern. After a loss to Winthrop and a win over USC Upstate, the Panthers have a 17-4 overall run so far.
In the USC Upstate game last weekend, the Panthers posted a 35-31 advantage in the first half. High Point really got it going in the second, hitting a 54-38 run from there in an eventual win 89-69. Leading the team in scoring was Terry Anderson with 22 points and 12 rebounds for a double-double. Rob Martin added 18 points with three assists and two rebounds in 33 minutes.
Radford Highlanders Betting Preview
Over on the Radford side, they opened up on a pretty ugly run. The Highlanders went just 3-7 over their first seven games of the season, but then got wins over Saint Francis, Coppin State, VMI, Shenandoah, USC Upstate and Presbyterian in the next seven outings. Radford is 2-2 in the last four games with a couple of losses to UNC Asheville and Winthrop. That gives the Highlanders an 11-10 record this season.
In the Winthrop game on Wednesday the Highlanders were sitting in the locker room with a 33-32 edge. Radford closed with a 44-42 second half however, ultimately leading to a tough road loss 76-75. Leading the team during the futile effort was Del Jones with 25 points, eight rebounds and two assists. Dennis Parker added 13 points with five rebounds and one assist as well.
High Point vs Radford Prediction
I’ll probably lean toward Radford but you could make a case either way. The Highlanders are coming off a tough road defeat at the hands of Winthrop. In that one Radford shot an excellent 53.3 percent from the field and 40.9 percent (9-of-22) from 3-point range alongside a 27-25 edge on the boards. So what was the problem? The Highlanders had a whopping 19 turnovers during the one-point loss in a pretty sloppy ball-control effort. Radford has been scoring well pretty much all year, though; they’ve got 72 or more points in 15 straight games.
As for High Point, they really got going in the second half versus USC Upstate. The Panthers hit 50 percent from the field with a nice 44-26 edge on points in the paint and just five turnovers. High Point has scored 74 or more points in every game this season, so this one’s sure to be a hefty total. I think Radford can post a nice effort at home here if they can clean up the mistakes.
