The High Point Panthers and the Presbyterian Blue Hose meet Thursday in college basketball action from Templeton Physical Education Center in Clinton. Here’s a High Point vs Presbyterian prediction. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best High Point vs Presbyterian pick. We will examine the recent form and player performances for both teams, as well as the recent betting trends and streaks pertaining to this matchup. As we conclude, we will tie it all together with a summary that produces a sensible pick for a favorable betting outcome in this game.

High Point Panthers Betting Preview

High Point only lost three of their first 11 games this year, then hit an eight-game win streak in December/January. The Panthers lost to Winthrop, then took out USC Upstate, Radford, Presbyterian, Longwood, Charleston Southern, Radford, USC Upstate, Gardner-Webb, UNC Asheville and Winthrop from there. That gives High Point a 26-4 run through 30 games.

In the Winthrop matchup over the weekend the Panthers were leaving the floor after the first half with a 42-35 advantage. High Point was outscored 52-47 the rest of the way but still managed to hang on for a tight victory on their home court 89-87. Terry Anderson led the team with 23 points and 11 rebounds while Owen Aquino added 12 points and five boards.

Presbyterian Blue Hose Betting Preview

Over on the Presbyterian side, they were a tepid 8-10 in their first 18 games this year then beat UNC Asheville, Gardner-Webb and Charleston Southern in the next three. The Hose lost four of the next five versus Winthrop, High Point, Radford and Charleston Southern then beat UNC Asheville and Longwood before another loss to USC Upstate. That makes for a 14-15 record so far this year.

In the USC Upstate rematch on Saturday the Blue Hose were sitting in the locker room with a 47-34 deficit at the break. Presbyterian woke up on a 40-29 run in the second half but it wasn’t enough during an eventual 76-74 loss as the game concluded. The Hose were led by Carl Parrish in the losing effort with 20 options, three assists and one rebound in 36 minutes.

Why the High Point Panthers will win

High Point vs Presbyterian Prediction

I’ll lean toward High Point. The Panthers cut it close in their latest win over Winthrop, winning by two points thanks to 49.1 percent shooting from the field and 80 percent (24-of-30) at the line. High Point was out-rebounded 38-30 and had 13 turnovers along the way, however. The Panthers have won 10 straight games now, scoring 71 or more points in all of those victories.

These teams last saw each other back on January 29 in an 84-81 victory at home for the Panthers. In that game High Point shot a tepid 41.8 percent from the field but did make 22 of their 28 free throws (78.6 percent) and had just four turnovers. The 53.8 percent shooting allowed on defense nearly cost the team the game, though. I’d like to see High Point tighten up the defense in this road rematch.
