Georgia Bulldogs Betting Preview

The Bulldogs opened their season with a 6-0 run over Bellarmine, Maryland Eastern Shore, Morehead State, Georgia Tech, Florida A&M and Xavier. After a loss to Clemson, Georgia beat Tennessee Tech, Florida State, Cincinnati, Western Carolina, West Georgia, Long Island U and Auburn. After another loss to Florida this week, that gives Georgia a 13-2 overall record in their first 15 games so far.

In the Florida matchup on Tuesday, the Bulldogs were down 41-40 by the end of the first half. Georgia hit a 51-37 deficit the rest of the way and ended up falling 92-77 in a road defeat. Leading the team during the losing effort was Marcus Millender with 18 points and three rebounds. Dylan James added 16 points with six rebounds and Jordan Ross had 13 points with two boards.

South Carolina Gamecocks Betting Preview

Over on the South Carolina side, they started out the year on a nice 4-0 run, then lost three of the next four versus Butler, Northwestern and Virginia Tech. Since then the Gamecocks are 5-2 with losses to Clemson and Vanderbilt alongside wins over Stetson, the Citadel, South Carolina State, Albany and LSU in that time. Over 15 games that makes for a 10-5 overall record this year.

In the LSU game on Tuesday the Gamecocks were up 50-25 going into the second half. South Carolina was outscored 43-28 the rest of the way but still managed to hang on for the road win 78-68. Elijah Strong posted 30 points with four rebounds and three assists while Meechie Johnson added 19 points with six assists and two rebounds. Eli Ellis added 10 points with three rebounds as well.

Georgia vs South Carolina Prediction

I’ll stay with Georgia. The Bulldogs need a good performance here though, following that loss to Florida this week. In that one Georgia shot 41.4 percent from the field and just 21.1 percent (4-of-19) from 3-point range alongside 15-of-23 (65.2 percent) from the line. The Bulldogs got blitzed on the boards 53-33 and in the paint 58-38 while notching just six team assists along the way. It wasn’t a great game for them. In any case, Georgia still has 77 or more points in every outing so far this year, so the scoring should come here as well.

As for South Carolina, they got outmuscled on the boards 40-26 by LSU but held the Tigers to just 38.7 percent from the field while hitting 12-of-21 (57.1 percent) from 3-point range themselves. The Gamecocks have gone 3-1 in the last four games, posting 71 or more points in all four of those outings. This should be a pretty good matchup but I like Georgia to get their mojo back with a cover.
