Georgia State Panthers Betting Preview

Georgia State opened up the year on a rough run but they’ve been better lately. The Panthers managed to win just one of their first 10 games this season over Fort Valley State. Georgia State is a much-better 5-3 since then however, losing to only Georgia Southern, Marshall and App State in that time. That gives the Panthers a 6-12 overall record across their first 18 games of the season.

In the Marshall matchup last weekend, Georgia State entered the second half sporting a 38-38 tie. The Panthers closed the game on a 43-35 run and ended up taking the win 81-73 in the end. Leading the team in scoring was Jelani Hamilton with 23 points and four rebounds. Both Micah Tucker (five rebounds) and Jakai Newton (seven rebounds) each posted 13 points in the win as well.

LA-Monroe Warhawks Betting Preview

Over on the Warhawks’ side, they limped to a 3-7 run over their first 10 games this year. The only wins were over Rust, Mississippi Valley State and Arkansas Baptist. LA-Monroe has since lost to Miami, South Alabama, Louisiana, Kansas State, Southern Miss, Texas State, Louisiana and Southern Miss again. In 18 games so far this season that gives the Warhawks a 3-15 overall record in the books.

In the Southern Miss road rematch last Saturday, LA-Monroe exited the first half with a three-point deficit 31-28. The Warhawks didn’t end up getting any closer on a 39-32 run from there and lost 70-60 in the end. Krystian Lewis led the team on a double-double with his 20 points, 10 rebounds and four assists. Renars Sondors added 12 points with nine rebounds in the losing effort.

Georgia State vs LA-Monroe Betting Preview

I’ll lean toward Georgia State I suppose. In reality I’m probably not touching this one as there’s little to get excited about if you’re not a fan of either team. The Panthers shot just 38.9 percent from the field in their win over Marshall last weekend and coughed up 14 turnovers. That said, Georgia State also did very well from the line at 84.6 percent (33-of-39) and benefitted from 16 Herd turnovers. The Panthers are 4-2 in their last six games but just 2-2 in the last four. Georgia State has 70 or more points in six of the last eight, though.

As for LA-Monroe, they shot a rough 34.5 percent from the field with 14 turnovers and a 34-22 deficit on points in the paint during their latest loss to Southern Miss. The Warhawks have lost eight straight games now, giving up 70 or more points in each of them.
