Georgetown Hoyas Betting Preview
The Hoyas are on a great run so far. They’re without a blemish through five games, starting with a 17-point win over Morgan State in the opener. Georgetown followed that up with a win over Maryland then got past Binghamton in game three. Game four was a five-point win over Clemson, then in their most recent appearance over the weekend the Hoyas took out Wagner. That would give the team a clean 5-0 run across the first quintet of outings this year.
Back on Saturday versus Wagner, the Hoyas jumped out to a dominant 44-27 edge by the break. Georgetown kept the pace from there on a 48-48 run and took the eventual win 92-75. Leading the team in scoring was Malik Mack with 18 points, five assists and two rebounds. Julius Halaifonua added 16 points with nine boards in 19 minutes, and Caleb Williams kicked in 15 points, five rebounds and three assists in the winning effort for the Hoyas.
Dayton Flyers Betting Preview
Over on the Dayton side, they’ve gotten through a half-dozen games so far this year with just one blemish on the card. The Flyers kicked things off with a couple of wins, taking out Canisius and UMBC in their first pair. Dayton took a 12-point loss to Cincinnati on the road in game three, then came back for a win over Bethune-Cookman in their next appearance. Since then it’s been two more wins: an overtime victory versus Marquette and a blowout over North Carolina Central. In total Dayton is sitting at 5-1 through their first six games this season.
Matched up against NC Central on Saturday, the Flyers came out of the break with a 44-20 edge. Dayton was outscored 35-30 the rest of the way but still powered out the sizable win 74-55. De’Shayne Montgomery had 17 points with five assists and two rebounds along the way, and Malcolm Thomas added 12 points with two rebounds. Georgetown vs Dayton Prediction
I’ll likely take a stab on Dayton here, but you could really call it either way. We should have a fun matchup in store. The Flyers didn’t have many troubles versus a struggling NC Central team over the weekend, despite shooting a tepid 28.1 percent (9-of-32) from 3-point range and 57.9 percent (11-of-19) from the line. Dayton had a 37-31 advantage on the boards and a 32-22 edge on points in the paint alongside just six turnovers (to the Eagles’ 17 turnovers). Outside of their 62 points in the road loss to Cincinnati, the Flyers have scored 74 or more points in five of six outings this year.
As for Georgetown, they blew past Wagner in their last game. The Hoyas had just nine turnovers and posted a 40-24 edge in the paint along with 25-of-28 (89.3 percent) from the line. That gives Georgetown 70 or more points in all five games so far, and 83 or more points in three of those. We should have a pretty high total if both teams can keep the scoring up.
