Gardner-Webb Bulldogs Betting Preview
The Bulldogs have had a pretty miserable year so far—to say the least. Gardner-Webb lost their first 11 outings of the season before beating Brevard and Toccoa Falls in a three-game span. After that were losses to Tennessee, Charleston Southern, Winthrop, High Point, Radford, Presbyterian and Longwood ahead of another win over USC Upstate. Through the first 22 games that would make a 3-19 run.
On Thursday versus UNC Asheville, the Bulldogs were in major trouble by halftime nursing a 41-27 deficit on the scoreboard. Gardner-Webb finished on a 28-23 disadvantage from there and ended up falling 69-50 in the end during the road matchup. Spence Sims was the only player on the team to reach double-digits, hitting 13 points with eight rebounds and one assist.

Over on the Charleston Southern side, they limped to a 5-5 run in their first 10 games then took wins over Warren Wilson, South Carolina State and North Florida. After a loss to Furman the Bucs beat Richmond, Gardner-Webb and UNC Asheville before losses to Winthrop, High Point, USC Upstate, Presbyterian and Longwood. That would give the Buccaneers an 11-11 run over their first 22 outings.
Matched up Thursday versus Radford, the Bucs were down by double-digits after the first half, facing a 44-32 disadvantage. Charleston Southern got slightly better from there on a 43-40 run but didn’t get close to a comeback bid in an 84-75 loss at home. A’lahn Sumler finished with 26 points, three rebounds and three assists while Brycen Blaine added 14 points with four rebounds.

Gardner-Webb vs Charleston Southern Prediction
I’ll stick with Charleston Southern but I’m not touching this one. The Bucs lost at home to a middling Radford team this past week, shooting just 37.7 percent from the field with 21.9 percent (7-of-32) from outside alongside a whopping 16 turnovers. That makes six straight losses for Charleston Southern, and they’ve given up 81 or more points in each of those defeats. The Buccaneers really need to tighten up if they’re going to get back above .500 overall.
These teams last saw each other on New Year’s Eve in an 89-79 road win for Charleston Southern. In that one the Buccaneers shot very well from the field (50.9 percent) and had a 36-29 rebounding edge alongside a 34-24 advantage on points in the paint. Charleston Southern missed a few free throws though (21-of-31 for 67.7 percent) and had 11 turnovers. Overall though, the Bucs should be in position to get a much-needed win here.
