Marquette vs DePaul Prediction 1/14/25 College Basketball Picks
Marquette at DePaul at 7 PM ET
During the January 7 matchup against Georgetown, the Golden Eagles went into halftime with a 38-29 disadvantage, which cast a shadow over their prospects. However, Marquette demonstrated resilience by executing a strong second-half performance, outpacing their rivals with a 45-28 scoring run and clinching a 74-66 victory. Chase Ross was the standout performer, scoring 27 points along with three rebounds, six steals, and two assists. Stevie Mitchell also made a significant contribution with 13 points, five rebounds, and three steals, while David Joplin recorded 12 points, seven rebounds, and two assists in 31 minutes of play.
In their matchup against Xavier on Saturday, the Blue Demons entered the locker room facing a 38-23 deficit at halftime. However, they improved their performance in the second half, achieving a 40-39 scoring run. Despite this effort, they ultimately succumbed to a significant defeat, concluding the game with a score of 77-63. CJ Gunn led the team in scoring, contributing 16 points and securing seven rebounds. Jacob Meyer followed with 14 points, along with two rebounds and one steal, while NJ Benson added 13 points, five rebounds, three assists, and two steals. Off the bench, JJ Traynor provided a modest contribution of four points in 11 minutes of play.
The Pick:
In their recent comeback victory against a solid Georgetown team, the Golden Eagles recorded a shooting percentage of only 35.6 percent and faced a rebounding deficit of 38-32. Nevertheless, they effectively exploited 19 turnovers from the Hoyas, scoring 20 points off those mistakes. Marquette has generally performed better offensively, having scored 72 or more points in five consecutive wins. On the other hand, DePaul struggled with a shooting percentage of 39.3 percent, a rebounding deficit of 36-28, and committed 12 turnovers in their latest defeat. The Demons have scored below 69 points in three of their last four games, all of which resulted in losses, as they allowed 77 or more points in each. Marquette is likely to find significant offensive opportunities and should be able to cover the spread if they take advantage of these situations.
Illinois vs Indiana Prediction 1/14/25 College Basketball Picks
Illinois at Indiana at 7 PM ET
This season, Illinois has performed admirably overall; however, they recently suffered a defeat in their latest match. The team recorded a shooting percentage of only 37.1 from the field while allowing USC to achieve a shooting percentage of 52.3. There were uncertainties regarding Ben Humrichos’ participation prior to the game, but he did take the court, contributing 15 points and five rebounds. Currently, Illinois averages 86.9 points per game, with their defense conceding 67.2 points. The offense is positioned 7th in the league, whereas the defense ranks 69th.
Indiana competed against the Iowa Hawkeyes, managing to score a mere 60 points, while their defense conceded 85 points, resulting in a loss. The team recorded a shooting percentage of 40 percent from the field, but struggled from beyond the arc, achieving only 25 percent with just four successful three-point attempts. Guard Myles Rice delivered a commendable performance, contributing 12 points, five rebounds, and one assist. Currently, Indiana averages 78 points per game, while their defense allows 71.1 points. The offensive unit is positioned 110th in the league rankings, whereas the defense stands at 174th.
The Pick:
Indiana boasts an impressive record of 11-0 at home, yet they find themselves as underdogs in this matchup. This presents a compelling opportunity that I cannot overlook. The Illinois defense struggled significantly in their previous game, and I anticipate similar challenges in this contest. Indiana continues to average 78 points per game, and I expect their offense to rebound strongly. I believe Indiana will secure a victory in this game, but I will opt to take the points for added security.
Ole Miss vs Alabama Prediction 1/14/25 College Basketball Picks
Ole Miss at Alabama at 7 PM ET
The Ole Miss Rebels secured victories against both Arkansas and LSU. Currently, the team is averaging 79 points per game with a shooting percentage of 45.4, while permitting 64.7 points on 40.1 percent shooting. Sean Pedulla contributes an average of 14.1 points and 3.6 assists, whereas Jaylen Murray averages 11.8 points and 2.4 rebounds.
The Alabama Crimson Tide triumphed over South Carolina and Texas A&M. They are presently averaging 91.2 points with a shooting accuracy of 47.3 percent, while their opponents score an average of 77.5 points at a shooting rate of 40.8 percent. Mark Sears is leading the team with an average of 19.1 points and 3.1 rebounds, and Grant Nelson follows with 12.2 points and 1.8 assists per game.
The Pick:
This line is disrespectful to Ole Miss. The Ole Miss Rebels demonstrate a robust defensive strategy and feature athletes who can contribute significantly to the scoring. Additionally, they hold a commendable 11-5 record against the spread this season, highlighted by a recent away victory against Arkansas. This matchup appears to be an intriguing clash between two competent SEC teams. Nevertheless, I do not see the rationale for a double-digit line. Notably, this is the first time in a year that Ole Miss has been labeled as a double-digit underdog. I will opt for the points with the Rebels.
Texas A&M vs Kentucky Prediction 1/14/25 College Basketball Picks
Texas A&M and Kentucky at 7 PM ET
The Texas A&M Aggies approach this contest aiming to recover from a 94-88 setback against Alabama, which has resulted in a season record of 13-3. Leading the team in both scoring and assists is Wade Taylor IV, who averages 15.7 points and 4.8 assists per game, along with 3.3 rebounds. Zhuric Phelps is the second player to achieve double-digit scoring, contributing 15.4 points, 4.9 rebounds, 2.7 assists, and 2.4 steals per game.
The Kentucky Wildcats enter this matchup aiming to capitalize on their recent victory against Mississippi State, where they triumphed 95-90, bringing their season record to 13-3. Otega Oweh is the leading scorer for the Wildcats, averaging 15.6 points per game along with 4.1 rebounds. Koby Brea contributes 11.7 points and 3.3 rebounds per game, while Lamont Butler adds 13.9 points and leads the team with 4.6 assists per game. Additionally, Jaxson Robinson has recorded 12.6 points and 3.6 rebounds this season, and Andrew Carr rounds out the group of double-digit scorers with 11.3 points and 5.9 rebounds.
The Pick:
Kentucky showcased its strength in the game against Mississippi State, and when fully healthy, the Wildcats are a challenging adversary. The team faced a health issue last week, which impacted their performance against Georgia. However, I believe they are now back to optimal condition as they prepare for this game. In terms of maintaining momentum, I have considerably more faith in Kentucky than in Texas A&M. Thus, I will choose to back Kentucky in this situation.
Mississippi State vs Auburn Prediction 1/14/25 College Basketball Picks
Mississippi State at Auburn at 7 PM ET
The Mississippi State Bulldogs are set to compete in this game with the goal of recovering from their recent 95-90 loss to Kentucky, which has left them with a record of 14-2 for the season. Josh Hubbard stands out as the top scorer for the Bulldogs, averaging 17 points and 3.2 assists per game, while Claudell Harris Jr. adds to the scoring with an average of 11.2 points per game, together forming a solid pair of double-digit scorers for the team thus far.
The Auburn Tigers enter this matchup aiming to capitalize on their recent victory against South Carolina, which concluded with a score of 66-63, thereby enhancing their record to 15-1 for the season. John Broome stands out as the team’s leading player, boasting impressive averages of 17.9 points, 10.7 rebounds, and 3.3 assists per game, alongside 2.7 blocks per game. However, his participation in this game may be uncertain due to an injury. Chad Baker-Mazara contributes significantly with an average of 12.7 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 2.7 assists per game. Additionally, Tahaad Pettiford averages 11.3 points and 2.8 assists, while Denver Jones adds 10.5 points and 2.9 assists. Chaney Johnson and Miles Kelly also play pivotal roles, averaging 10.1 points with 5.3 rebounds and 10.3 points, respectively, rounding out the group of Auburn’s double-digit scorers this season.
The Pick:
I have not been particularly impressed with Auburn’s recent performances, especially given their tendency to engage in closely contested matches. Mississippi State, however, should not be underestimated as they prepare for this encounter. The Bulldogs are likely to be highly motivated following their recent defeat, especially as they face a challenging atmosphere against one of the nation’s strongest teams. I anticipate a determined effort from Mississippi State, and I believe they may come close to achieving an outright victory. I favor Mississippi State along with the points.
Ohio State vs Wisconsin Prediction 1/14/25 College Basketball Picks
Ohio State at Wisconsin at 9 PM ET
The Ohio State Buckeyes currently hold a record of 10 wins and 6 losses this season, placing them 12th in the Big Ten Conference. Following a narrow defeat of 71-73 against Oregon, the Buckeyes have a performance record of 9-7 against the spread and 7-9 in over/under betting, along with a road record of 1-2. Leading the team in scoring is Bruce Thornton, who averages 17.1 points per game, complemented by 2.8 rebounds and a team-high 4.4 assists. Devin Royal contributes significantly as well, averaging 13.9 points and leading the team with 7.4 rebounds.
This season, the Wisconsin Badgers have compiled a record of 13-3, positioning themselves in 7th place within the Big Ten Conference. They recently secured an 80-59 victory over Minnesota. Against the spread, the Badgers have a record of 9-6-1, and they are 11-5 in terms of over/under betting, with a strong home performance reflected in their 9-1 record. John Tonje is the team’s leading scorer, averaging 18.3 points and 5.2 rebounds per game, while John Blackwell supports the offense with an average of 15.4 points and 4.7 rebounds.
The Pick:
The Badgers have recorded an outstanding home performance this season and have frequently triumphed over the Buckeyes in recent encounters. On the flip side, the Buckeyes have been unable to cover the spread in their last three games. The Badgers, with an 11-5 record against the spread this season, have proven to be reliable. Moreover, they have a commendable 5-1 record against the spread in their last six games, which leads me to believe they will maintain this momentum today. I suggest placing your confidence in the Wisconsin Badgers and laying the points at home.
Miami vs Duke Prediction 1/14/25 College Basketball Picks
Miami at Duke at 9 PM ET
The Miami Hurricanes currently hold a record of 4-12 for the season following their recent defeat to Wake Forest, which ended with a score of 88-78. In this match, the Hurricanes achieved a shooting percentage of 40.3% from the field, 31.4% from beyond the arc, and 81% from the free-throw line. Matthew Cleveland was the standout player for Miami, contributing 22 points and securing four rebounds, while Jalil Bethea supported the effort with 13 points and four assists.
With a season record of 14-2, the Duke Blue Devils secured a win against Notre Dame, finishing the game with an 86-78 scoreline. The team’s shooting statistics were impressive, with 53.3% from the field, 33.3% on three-point attempts, and 85.7% from the free-throw line. Cooper Flagg was instrumental in the victory, scoring 42 points and providing seven assists, while Khaman Maluach contributed significantly with 19 points and 10 rebounds.
The Pick:
The Hurricanes have demonstrated a reasonable offensive performance, achieving a shooting percentage of 47.2% from the field and averaging 77.5 points per game. However, their defensive efforts have been significantly lacking, as they are conceding over 76 points per game this season, with three consecutive games allowing at least 80 points. In contrast, Duke is currently among the elite teams in the nation, bolstered by a strong defensive record, permitting only 59.6 points per game. Given the substantial point spread for this conference matchup, I find myself hesitant to favor either team; nonetheless, I will opt for Miami to cover the spread, hoping they exhibit some competitive spirit.
Missouri vs Florida Prediction 1/14/25 College Basketball Picks
Missouri at Florida at 9 PM ET
The Missouri Tigers secured victories against both LSU and Vanderbilt. Currently, the team is averaging 85.7 points per game with a shooting percentage of 49.7, while conceding an average of 68.7 points at a shooting percentage of 41.6. Mark Mitchell contributes an average of 13.5 points and 4.8 rebounds, whereas Tamar Bates averages 12.8 points and 1.3 assists.
The Florida Gators emerged victorious against Tennessee and Arkansas. They are currently averaging 86.3 points per game with a shooting percentage of 46.7 while allowing their opponents to score an average of 64.8 points on 36.9 percent shooting. Walter Clayton Jr. is a key player, averaging 17.2 points and 3.3 rebounds, and Alijah Martin also makes a notable contribution with averages of 15.9 points and 5.6 rebounds.
The Pick:
The Florida Gators have established themselves as one of the most reliable teams in the nation, currently holding a record of 12-4 against the spread this season. They have achieved an impressive 9-1 record both straight up and against the spread in their last ten contests. Although Missouri possesses several strengths and may not warrant being a double-digit underdog, I prefer to support the teams that have consistently proven profitable. I anticipate a decisive victory for Florida on their home turf.
Baylor vs Arizona Prediction 1/14/25 College Basketball Picks
Baylor at Arizona at 11 PM ET
During the game against the Sun Devils on Saturday, the Bears held a promising lead of 32-20 at halftime. Nevertheless, they faced challenges in the second half, trailing 41-29, which led to an overtime period where they ultimately triumphed with a score of 72-66. Norchad Omier led the team with 19 points and eight rebounds. VJ Edgecombe contributed significantly with 15 points, four rebounds, three assists, and two steals, while Josh Ojianwuna achieved a double-double, recording 12 points and 17 rebounds, along with one steal and one block. Robert Wright also made a notable impact off the bench, scoring nine points and providing two rebounds and two assists in 31 minutes.
In the recent UCF matchup, the Wildcats entered halftime with a slight advantage of 45-42. Arizona then executed a 43-38 scoring run in the second half, culminating in an 88-80 win. Caleb Love was the standout scorer for the Wildcats, amassing 16 points, eight rebounds, and six assists. Anthony Dell’Orso also made a significant contribution with 15 points, three rebounds, and three assists, while Henri Veesaar came off the bench to score 14 points and secure five rebounds in 23 minutes of play. Tobe Awaka further supported the team with 11 points and five rebounds.
The Pick:
The Wildcats have demonstrated impressive offensive prowess during their ongoing six-game winning streak, scoring at least 72 points in every match and surpassing 88 points in four of those contests. On the other hand, Baylor faced some challenges in their previous game against a competent Arizona State team, yet they managed to secure a valuable overtime victory. Notably, the Bears have recorded 68 points or more in eight of their last nine games, with the sole exception being a low-scoring 55 against a strong Iowa State team. Baylor seems to be well-prepared for this matchup, and while I expect them to challenge Arizona, I ultimately foresee the Wildcats claiming the win.
