Florida Atlantic Owls Betting Preview

The Owls kicked off the season on a 5-3 run over their first eight games, taking out Boston College, Charleston, Coastal Georgia, Pacific and Loyola Marymount. Since then it’s been a 4-2 run with losses to Saint Mary’s and UCF among wins over Florida Gulf Coast, Saint Leo, Albany and UTSA. That gives the Owls a 9-5 record across their first 14 games of the year.

In the UTSA matchup on New Year’s Eve, the Owls stormed out to a 60-28 halftime lead. Florida Atlantic closed on a 50-42 run from there, rolling to a 110-70 victory in the end. Leading the team in scoring was Devin Vanterpool with 21 points. Isaiah Elohim had 16 points with four rebounds while Kanaan Carlyle added 16 points with four assists and two rebounds.

Tulane Green Wave Betting Preview

Over on the Tulane side, they managed to open the year at 6-2 over their first eight games. The only blemishes in that time were losses to New Orleans and Utah State. After a 1-2 run with losses to Akron and UC San Diego, the Green Wave have since beaten LA Tech, Portland State and East Carolina. That gives Tulane a 10-4 record across their first 14 games so far this year.

In the East Carolina matchup on Wednesday the Green Wave entered the second half with a two-point deficit. Tulane hit a 42-31 advantage from there however, eventually notching a nice road win 79-70 in comeback fashion. Rowan Brumbaugh had 19 points with seven rebounds and four assists while Asher Woods contributed 19 points with five boards and four assists in the win.

Florida Atlantic vs Tulane Prediction

I’ll stick with Tulane, but this should be a pretty good matchup. The Wave started a little slowly versus East Carolina in their last game but eventually took the win with 47.2 percent shooting from the field and 11-of-23 (47.8 percent) from outside. The foul shooting wasn’t spectacular (18-of-28 for 64.3 percent) however, and Tulane got outscored in the paint 38-20. That makes three straight wins for the Wave, but they’ve been below 64 points in two of those.

As for FAU, they didn’t have much issue with a struggling UTSA team this past week. The Owls shot a smooth 58.5 percent in that one with 51.4 percent from outside (18-of-35) and 16-of-20 (80 percent) from the line. Florida Atlantic also notched a 38-25 rebounding edge but did cough up 15 turnovers as well. The Owls have scored 75 or more points in six straight games (a 4-2 run), but they’ve also given up 70 or more points in four straight (a 2-2 run).

Andrew Jett's Pick: Tulane Green Wave +4.5
