Over on the Jacksonville side, they’ve had a pretty choppy season thus far. The Dolphins have alternated wins with losses all year through seven games, taking out Trinity FL, VMI and Bethune-Cookman in that time. Jacksonville has otherwise fallen versus Miami, High Point, George Mason and Pacific. In total that gives the Dolphins a 3-4 run across their first seven appearances of the season.
In the Pacific matchup last Tuesday, the Dolphins trailed by eight points going into the second half. Jacksonville was outscored 40-33 the rest of the way and lost the game 68-53 in the end. The team’s only double-digit scorer was Chris Arias with 10 points and one rebound in 19 minutes. Both Chris Lockett (nine points; six rebounds) and Donovan Rivers (nine points; four rebounds) got close, though.

I’ll stick with Jacksonville. That said, I’m not touching this one as there’s not much to get excited about here. Both teams have been off the floor for a while and there’s sure to be plenty of rust in the early-going at least. The Dolphins last played on November 25, shooting just 37.3 percent from the field and 14.3 percent (2-of-14) in a double-digit loss to Pacific. Jacksonville also got out-rebounded 45-22 and had just seven team assists. The Dolphins have been below 70 points in five straight games, going 2-3 in that time.
As for Florida A&M, they haven’t been on the court since way back on November 17 in a 30-point loss to Georgia. The Rattlers shot just 34.4 percent from the field in that one and had 22 turnovers. I’m not optimistic about their performance here either.
