The Fairfield Stags and the Saint Peter’s Peacocks meet Sunday in college basketball action from Yanitelli Center in Jersey City. Here’s a Fairfield vs Saint Peter’s prediction. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best Fairfield vs Saint Peter’s pick. We will examine the recent form and player performances for both teams, as well as the recent betting trends and streaks pertaining to this matchup. As we conclude, we will tie it all together with a summary that produces a sensible pick for a favorable betting outcome in this game.

Fairfield Stags Betting Preview

The Stags were barely able to stay above water in their first 15 games on a choppy 8-7 run. Wins came in the next three games though, before a couple more losses to Marist and Siena. Fairfield hit a 5-1 run in their next six outings, beating Niagara, Canisius, Iona, Sacred Heart and Marist during that time. Over 26 games so far this year that gives the Stags a 16-10 overall run.

Last weekend versus Marist, the Stags held a slim 28-25 edge going into the second half. Fairfield kept the pace from there on a 35-35 stretch and took the eventual win on their home floor 63-60. Braden Sparks topped the team with his 20 points, four rebounds and two assists. Brandon Benjamin managed to double up with 13 points and 12 rebounds in 32 minutes as well.

Saint Peter’s Peacocks Betting Preview

Over on the Saint Peter’s side, they started out the year on a sub-.500 kick at just 4-5 overall. The Peacocks took out Centenary NJ, Fairfield, Marist, Merrimack, Quinnipiac, Rider and Iona over the next nine games, though. Following defeats versus Merrimack and Rider in the next three came wins over Manhattan and Siena. That would give the team a 14-8 run through their first 22 games.

Matched up against Sacred Heart on Friday, the Peacocks were trailing by seven points going into the half 40-33. Saint Peter’s managed to keep the pace from there on a 38-38 run but didn’t get any closer in an eventual loss on the road 78-71. Jahki Gupton put up 15 points with four rebounds and Brent Bland added 12 points with six rebounds in the losing effort.

Fairfield vs Saint Peter’s Prediction

I’m going to stay with Saint Peter’s. The Peacocks didn’t play very well on the road versus Sacred Heart Friday however, shooting just 40.9 percent from the field with 11-of-16 (68.8 percent) at the line. The good news is that Saint Peter’s had a 40-18 advantage in the paint, a 32-25 rebounding edge and just six turnovers. The Peacocks are still 2-1 in the last three games with 70 or more points scored in each of those.

These teams last saw each other back on December 29 in a 70-66 victory on the road for the Peacocks. In that one Saint Peter’s shot just 40 percent from the field and 23.8 percent (5-of-21) from 3-point range but added a 43-33 rebounding edge and a 46-32 advantage on points in the paint. The 40.4 percent shooting allowed on defense helped as well. I could see this one finishing pretty close also, but I think the Peacocks have the inside track.

Andrew Jett's Pick: Saint Peter's Peacocks -3.5
