Fairfield Stags Betting Preview

The Stags managed to go 5-5 over their first 10 outings of the season. The losses in that time were versus Penn State, Seton Hall, Columbia, Manhattan and Merrimack. Fairfield posted a 6-2 run over the next eight games with wins over Monmouth, Central Connecticut, City College NY, Niagara, Rider and Manhattan. Over their first 18 games of the year that gives the Stags an 11-7 record in the books.

Matched up against Manhattan on Wednesday the Stags entered the second half with a 47-23 advantage. Fairfield kept it up on a 51-39 run the rest of the way in an eventual blowout win at home 98-62. Tops in scoring was Deuce Turner with 18 points and three assists in 18 minutes. Tony Williams added 16 points and Brandon Benjamin doubled up on 11 points and 15 rebounds.

Marist Red Foxes Betting Preview

Over on the Marist side, they posted a pretty solid 7-2 run in their first nine outings of the season. The only losses in that time came courtesy of Xavier and Harvard. The Red Foxes would lose to Georgia Tech, Quinnipiac and Saint Peter’s over the next four games, but they’ve since beaten Iona, Sacred Heart and Rider over the last three. In 16 games so far that gives Marist an 11-5 run.

In the Rider game last weekend, the Foxes were in the locker room looking up at a nine-point edge on the road 30-21. Marist finished off with a 41-28 run and took the victory in blowout fashion 71-49. Justin Menard managed 15 points with two rebounds and two assists. Elijah Lewis added 10 points with two assists and four boards while Jaden Daughtry had 10 rebounds with six points.

Fairfield vs Marist Prediction

I’ll try Fairfield here but you could call it either way. We should have a good matchup in store. The Stags didn’t have much issue at all in a home win over Manhattan during their last outing, posting a nice 57.1 percent from the field and 50 percent (12-of-24) from outside. Fairfield had a 38-23 rebounding edge and 22 team assists but could have been better from the line (14-of-22 for 63.6 percent). The Stags have won three straight games now, and they’ve scored 81 or more points in three of those four.

As for Marist, they got past a struggling Rider team pretty easily last weekend. The Foxes shot 46 percent from the field with a 38-28 rebounding edge and 15 team assists along the way. Marist has won three straight games themselves with 71 or more points scored in each. We’ll have a nice total here if both teams can keep their offenses going.

Andrew Jett's Pick: Fairfield Stags +9.5
