The Michigan State Spartans enter Saturday’s matchup with the Blue Devils with an 8–0 win‑loss record, including a perfect 5–0 record at home. In Michigan State’s 74–58 victory over the North Carolina Tar Heels last month, Michigan State guard Jeremy Fears Jr. posted 19 points on 8 of 10 shooting from the field.

The Michigan State Spartans average 78.6 points on 47.4 percent shooting from the field and 33.3 percent shooting from three‑point range per game. Defensively, the Spartans allowing opponents 60.4 points (6th in nation) on 38 percent shooting from the field (18th in country) per game.

Duke Blue Devils Betting Preview

The Duke Blue Devils enter Saturday’s contest with a 9–0 record, including a 3–0 record on the road. The Blue Devils have amassed wins over Florida, Arkansas, Army and Western Carolina. In the Duke Blue Devils 67–66 win over the Florida Gators three days ago, forward Cameron Boozer tallied 29 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists and 1 steal.

The Duke Blue Devils average 89.1 points (26th in nation) on 51.2 percent shooting from the field per game. The Blue Devils are allowing opponents 59.6 points per game which ranks 4th in the country.

Freshman forward Cameron Boozer leads the Blue Devils frontcourt, averaging 23.6 points, 9.3 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 1.7 steals per game. Why the Michigan State Spartans Will Win

•            Home court advantage. Breslin Center is one of the toughest venues in college basketball. The Spartans are 5-0 at home this season.

•            Balanced roster. Fears Jr. distributes, Kohler scores inside, Carr adds athleticism.

•            Quality Defense. The Michigan State Spartans are allowing opponents 60.4 points per game which ranks 6th in the country.

Why the Duke Blue Devils Win

•            Quality scoring. Freshman forward Cameron Boozer is averaging 23.6 points per game and can dominate inside.

•            Offensive firepower. Duke averages 89.1 points per game which ranks 26th in the nation.

•            Team Depth. Multiple key contributors in Foster, Evans, and Ngongba II.

Michigan State vs. Duke Prediction

This matchup features the Michigan State Spartans defensive grit against the Duke Blue Devils offensive firepower. I fully expect the Spartans to lean on their home crowd and defensive rotations to try and slow down a very skilled Duke Blue Devils basketball team. Conversely, Duke will look to push tempo and exploit mismatches. Michigan State’s ability to control pace and rebound will be critical, but Duke’s offensive ceiling makes them a rather dangerous opponent for any team in college basketball.

Over 40 minutes, this game should remain tight. Michigan State’s balance and home‑court advantage give them a slight edge, but Duke’s star power could swing momentum late. Look for the Spartans to grind out a narrow win, with defense and rebounding proving decisive in the final minutes.

In my view, Michigan State’s ability to limit second chance points and force Duke into contested perimeter shots should be the difference in this matchup. I am backing the Michigan State Spartans plus the 1.5 points in this game.

Hans Geevers's Pick: Michigan State +1.5
