Drexel Dragons Betting Preview
Drexel took a bit of a step back last season following 20 victories in the 2023-24 campaign. The Dragons would end up going 18-15 overall, notching an even 9-9 run in Coastal Athletic Association games. Drexel finished behind Towson, UNC Wilmington, Charleston, William & Mary, Campbell, Monmouth and Northeastern with that result. The Dragons went into the postseason on a promising four-game win streak, then beat Elon in the first round of the CAA Tournament. Drexel would lose to Towson in game two on March 9 though, ending their run.
This year the Dragons got off to a pretty easy start with a Monday matchup at home versus Widener. Drexel dominated that one, taking a 44-23 edge in the first half on the way to a 93-59 victory in the end. Tops in scoring was Josh Reed with 17 points and 12 rebounds for a double-double. Garfield Turner added 14 points with four boards, and Dillon Tingler put up 10 points with three rebounds and two assists in 20 minutes of work on the floor in the win.
Saint Joseph’s Hawks Betting Preview
Over on the Saint Josephs’ side, they improved slightly in the record column last season. The Hawks put up a 22-13 overall run and went 11-7 in the Atlantic 10. That effort would put Saint Joseph’s in sixth place among the standings behind VCU, George Mason, Dayton, Loyola Chicago and Saint Louis. The Hawks finished off the season with a road loss to La Salle, but then beat La Salle and Dayton in the first two rounds of the conference tournament. Following a semifinals loss to George Mason, Saint Joseph’s got an invitation to the NIT. There they lost to UAB in the first round on March 19.
Saint Joseph’s first game this year came at home on Monday versus Lafayette. The Hawks were up by 10 points at the break, then put up 44 more points in the second half on the way to an 85-76 win. Jaiden Glover-Toscano put up 23 points with nine boards and four assists in the victory, while Anthony Finkley had 15 points with three rebounds. Dasear Haskins chipped in with 14 points, five rebounds and two assists in 27 minutes of action.

Drexel vs Saint Joseph’s Prediction
I’ll lean toward Drexel. This should be a pretty fun matchup regardless, though. The Dragons didn’t have any issues with Widener in their opener, shooting 48.7 percent from the field with a dominant 55-28 edge on the boards and a 60-36 edge in the paint. Drexel had 27 assists and 15 steals, but also 16 turnovers. The free throw shooting (9-of-17 for 52.9 percent) was pretty rough as well, but at least some of that can be attributed to bench guys getting mop-up minutes. In any case, Drexel will be stretching their starters a lot further here.
As for Saint Joseph’s, they shot a solid 45.5 percent from the field with a 38-29 rebounding advantage in their win over Lafayette. The Hawks were vulnerable in the paint however, with a 46-42 points disadvantage. They made up for it with a nice performance at the line (19-of-22) though. This game could go a lot of different ways and should be a fun one to watch.
