Davidson Wildcats Betting Preview

The Wildcats’ season got off to a nice start last Monday with a pretty routine matchup versus DeSales University. Davidson was up 49-30 by the end of the first half, then closed on a 48-33 run on the way to a 97-63 blowout victory at home. Leading the Wildcats in scoring during the win was Hunter Adam with 18 points and three rebounds. RJ Greer added 13 points with two rebounds, and Manie Joses had 11 points with six boards and two assists in 19 minutes of work on the floor for the Wildcats. Josh Scovens chipped in 10 points as well.

In game two on Friday versus Washington State, the Wildcats were up comfortably 40-24 by the break. Davidson kept the pace from there on a 45-45 run and took the home win 85-69 in the end. Hunter Adam had 14 points with two rebounds in 16 minutes this time, and Sam Brown had 12 points with four assists and two rebounds in the winning effort. Devin Brown added 11 points with four assists and three rebounds in 17 minutes of action on the floor.

Charlotte 49ers Betting Preview

Over on the Charlotte side, they kicked off their season with a home matchup versus Indiana State. The 49ers held a 45-37 edge by halftime and cruised on a 47-39 run the rest of the way in a 92-76 win. Ben Bradford led the way with 31 points, three rebounds and two assists while both Dezayne Mingo (four rebounds) and Major Freeman (one rebound) had 17 points apiece. Anton Bonke doubled up in the win with 10 points and 14 rebounds in 29 minutes of work.

In game two versus Tennessee Tech back on Friday, Charlotte was able to record another victory. The 49ers held a 33-22 edge at the break this time and got outscored the rest of the way 43-37 in a 70-65 win. Major Freeman was the leading team scorer with 17 points and four rebounds, while Dezayne Mingo had 13 points with four assists. Davidson vs Charlotte Prediction

I’ll stick with Davidson. This should be a pretty interesting matchup however, as both teams have a couple of solid wins in the bag thus far. In any case, the Wildcats played a nice game versus a struggling Washington State team despite getting out-rebounded 26-25 and holding a modest 26-26 tie in the paint. Davidson shot spectacularly well though, hitting 57.1 percent from the field, 50 percent (12-of-24) from 3-point range and 17-of-21 (81 percent) from the line alongside 18 team assists. That gives the Wildcats 182 combined points in their first two games so far this season, so they’re doing very well on the scoreboard.

As for Charlotte, they didn’t have many issues in their latest win over Tennessee Tech—unless you count the 18 turnovers and 34-24 deficit on points in the paint. The Niners’ hot start buoyed them throughout the game and they ended up shooting a nice 48.9 percent from the field. Davidson is going to be a tougher customer though, and I don’t think Charlotte will control this game.

Andrew Jett's Pick: Davidson Wildcats +1.5
