Coppin State Eagles Betting Preview
The Eagles opened the season on an ugly losing skid. The first six games were all defeats thanks to Maryland, La Salle, James Madison, South Florida, Central Michigan and South Alabama in succession. Since then it’s been a 2-2 run for Coppin State with wins over Central Penn and Rider mixed with losses to VCU and Loyola Maryland. That gives the Eagles a rough 2-8 run across their first 10 games this year.
In the Loyola MD matchup back on Sunday, the Eagles came out of the break with a 41-39 deficit. Coppin State didn’t get any closer on a 54-45 run from there and took the loss 95-84. Hassan Perkins was tops on 19 points with five assists and two rebounds. Three different players chipped in 11 points apiece, and Jamari Piercy had 10 points in 18 minutes of work during the losing effort.
West Virginia Mountaineers Betting Preview
Over on the West Virginia side, they opened the year on a nice run of wins but have faltered in the last few outings. The Mountaineers beat Mount St. Mary’s, Campbell, Lehigh, Pitt and Lafayette in their first five games for a great start. After consecutive losses to Clemson and Xavier, West Virginia rebounded with a win over Mercyhurst in blowout fashion. That gives the Mountaineers a 6-2 record across their first eight outings this year.
In the Mercyhurst game on Sunday, the Mountaineers opened the game on a 39-22 advantage. West Virginia closed with a 31-16 second half and took the win in the end 70-38. Chance Moore topped the scorers with 11 points and nine rebounds in 17 minutes. Amir Jenkins was the only other team player to reach double-figures, posting 10 points, three rebounds and three assists in 22 minutes during the easy blowout victory.

Coppin State vs West Virginia Prediction
I’ll stick with West Virginia I suppose. The Mountaineers should be able to take care of business here; they certainly did in the Mercyhurst win. WVU notched 47.3 percent from the field with a 41-23 rebounding advantage and 15 team assists in that one, but also missed seven of their 20 free throw attempts (65 percent) and hit just 5-of-18 (27.8 percent) from outside. Still, the game was little more than a formality and lots of different players got minutes in the blowout. West Virginia isn’t the highest-scoring team in the world this year, though; they’ve been below 72 points in six of their eight games, and below 74 in seven of eight.
As for Coppin State, they could only muster 17 rebounds alongside 13 turnovers in their loss to Loyola Maryland. The Eagles have given up 95 or more points in two of the last three games, so WVU should have plenty of scoring opportunities here—if they can take advantage.
