Coppin State Eagles Betting Preview

The Eagles have three games in the bag so far this season, but they’ve come up empty in the win column. Coppin State took on Maryland in a road matchup last Monday in their opener and went into the half with a 47-32 disadvantage. The Eagles closed on a 36-29 deficit on the way to an 83-61 loss. Leading the scoring in that one was Khali Horton with 19 points and two rebounds. The only other team player to reach double-figures was Tyler Koenig with 12 points and two boards. In game two versus La Salle last Wednesday, the Eagles were trailing 47-23 by the end of the first half. Coppin State didn’t end up getting any closer on a 40-36 run from there and lost 87-59 in the end. Topping the scorers as the only team player to reach double-figures was Torrin Andrews with 11 points. Favour Aire got close however, notching nine points, two rebounds and two assists in 22 minutes of work during the losing road effort.

Coppin State’s most recent loss came Sunday versus James Madison. The Eagles trailed 43-28 at the break this time and actually got better in the second half with a 43-42 advantage—but still lost 84-70. Taj Thweatt led the way this time with 18 points and four boards while Demariontay Hall had 11 points with 13 rebounds. Hassan Perkins added 10 points and six assists during the road defeat as well.

South Florida Bulls Betting Preview

Over on the Bulls’ side, they kicked off their season last Monday at home versus Florida A&M. The Bulls took a 47-33 edge into the locker room and closed on a 55-34 run for a nice blowout win 102-67. Leading the team was Wes Enis with 22 points, two rebounds and two assists in 31 minutes. Josh Omojafo added 17 points with five rebounds and five assists while Izaiyah Nelson doubled up on 16 points and 10 rebounds in just 16 minutes on the floor.

South Florida tried to keep it going in their second game on Saturday versus George Washington but fell just short. The Bulls were down by four points at the break and that’s where they ended up after a 55-55 second half. The result was a 99-95 loss. Topping the team this time was Omojafo with 33 points, seven boards and three assists. CJ Brown added 22 points with five boards and four assists, while Izaiyah Nelson chipped in 14 points with seven rebounds in 28 minutes of work on the court during the losing effort for the Bulls.

Coppin State vs South Florida Prediction

I’ll stick with South Florida. The Bulls need a good bounce-back game after a tough loss on the road versus George Washington, and this is a promising spot to get it. USF had a 50-40 advantage in the paint versus the Revolutionaries and shot decently with 43.1 percent from the floor. That said, South Florida hit just six of their 33 tries from outside (18.2 percent) and missed 10 free throws of 37 attempts (73 percent) while allowing George Washington to shoot a blistering 54.5 percent from the other side. Coppin State will be a much more manageable opponent.
