Over on the Cougars’ side, they opened the season with a win streak over Villanova, Holy Cross and Delaware in succession. BYU would take their first loss of the season on November 15 versus UConn, but they’ve won four straight games since then. Those victories have come versus Wisconsin, Miami, Dayton and Cal Baptist in succession for a 7-1 overall record across the Cougars’ first eight games of the season.

Matched up against Cal Baptist last week, the Cougars bagged a blowout win 91-60 at Delta Center. All five starters finished in double-figures for BYU, including AJ Dybantsa (five rebounds; five assists) and Keba Keita (14 rebounds), each with 22 points. Robert Wright also doubled up with 15 points, four rebounds, three steals and 11 assists in the victory effort.

I’ll stick with BYU but you could probably argue this one either way. The Cougars dismantled a pretty decent Cal Baptist team in their last outing, shooting a nice 55 percent from the field with 41 rebounds, 22 team assists and a 48-28 edge on points in the paint. BYU gave up just 33 percent shooting on the other side as well. That gives the Cougars at least 71 points in every game so far and a combined 174 points in the last pair.

As for Clemson, they shot 41 percent from the field and just 4-of-19 (21 percent) from 3-point range in their loss to Alabama. Otherwise the Tigers performed pretty well with a 50-32 edge in the paint and a 43-39 rebounding advantage. Clemson has 70 or more points in every game so far this year; it wouldn’t be surprising to see a pretty sizable total in this one.
