Charlotte 49ers Betting Preview
The 49ers were sitting at 13-9 overall back in late January, then hit a losing streak over the next four games versus Wichita State, Memphis, UTSA and Tulsa. After wins over East Carolina and North Texas came losses to Florida Atlantic, UAB and South Florida. The last two games however, have been wins over Tulane and UAB in tournament play for a 17-16 overall record.
On Friday in the tournament matchup versus UAB, the Niners were down by a couple of points 33-31 going into the second half. Charlotte came back on a 52-45 run the rest of the way however, bagging an 83-78 victory as the game finished up. Leading the team in scoring during the win was Dezayne Mingo with 35 points, four rebounds and six assists in 38 minutes of work.
South Florida Bulls Betting Preview
Over on the South Florida side, they were 11-7 through their first 18 games this year and fresh off a loss to Wichita State in overtime on January 18. After wins over UAB, Florida Atlantic and Tulane, USF fell to Temple. It’s been wins over UTSA, Tulsa, Wichita State, Florida Atlantic, Memphis, Rice, Tulane, Memphis and Charlotte in succession since then for a 23-8 overall run.
In the Charlotte matchup back on Sunday the Bulls came back out onto the floor for the second half with a 44-29 advantage. South Florida hit a 39-31 run the rest of the way during an 83-60 win in the end. Tops in scoring was Joseph Pinion with 22 points, three rebounds, four assists and two steals. Wes Enis was up there as well with 20 points, seven boards and six assists.
Charlotte vs South Florida Prediction
I’m sticking with the Bulls. South Florida didn’t have much issue with Charlotte in their last game, hitting a reasonable 42.3 percent from the field with a 38-33 rebounding edge and just six turnovers. The Bulls gave up just 39.7 percent shooting on defense with 17 points off 15 49ers turnovers. South Florida has won nine straight games now, and they’ve scored 80 or more points in seven of those.
These teams last saw each other back on March 8 in an 83-60 home win for the Bulls. In that one South Florida shot a reasonable 42.3 percent from the field and held the Niners to just 39.7 percent on the other side. The Bulls bagged 17 points off 15 Charlotte turnovers and had just six turnovers of their own. USF should own this game if they play well; I’d like to see that shooting percentage tick up a bit also.
