Charleston Southern Buccaneers Betting Preview
The Buccaneers have been busy over the past couple of weeks, as they’ve got four games in the bag already. First came a 98-67 blowout loss at Virginia Tech on November 3. Charleston Southern was within four points at the break but lost the handle in the second half. Leading scorer Brycen Blaine finished with 22 points and eight rebounds in the defeat. Game two was a matchup versus Toccoa Falls on November 6, and Charleston Southern’s first win 106-71. The Bucs’ Luke Williams logged 22 points with five assists and three rebounds as the leading contributor there. In game three versus the Citadel on Monday, Charleston Southern was down by three at the break then surged on a 51-38 second half on the way to a 96-86 comeback victory. Brycen Blaine went off for a whopping 42 points, 11 rebounds and eight assists for Charleston Southern, and A’lahn Sumler added 18 points with six rebounds in the win.
In Thursday’s matchup versus Alabama A&M, the Buccaneers trailed 42-34 at the half. Charleston Southern got better from there on 30 more points but it wasn’t enough in a 68-64 loss.
Lindenwood Lions Betting Preview
Over on the Lindenwood side, they opened up the season with an unenviable matchup versus Texas Tech. That one went just about how you might expect; the Lions were down 58-30 at the half and ended up losing 98-60 in the end. Milos Nenadic had a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds though, as did Robert Lewis with 10 points and 12 boards. Game two was the Lions’ first win of the year versus St. Louis College of Pharmacy Eutectics. Lindenwood scored 62 points in the first half on the way to a 116-51 blowout win.
In game three versus Saint Louis on Monday, the Lions fell back into the loss column. Lindenwood was down 43-27 by halftime then got outscored 66-39 the rest of the way in a 109-66 defeat. Jadis Jones topped the team on 16 points with five rebounds and Dontrez Williams had 13 points and one rebound in 28 minutes of work during the losing effort.
Charleston Southern vs Lindenwood Prediction
I’ll likely stick with Charleston Southern. Realistically I’m probably not touching this one, though. The Bucs had a tricky matchup versus Virginia Tech in their opener and notched a tepid 67 points but they’ve been better since (outside of Thursday’s first half anyway). Charleston Southern put up a combined 202 points in the next pair of outings. On Thursday the Bucs had a slow opening and couldn’t overcome the deficit despite improving after the break. Charleston Southern needs a much better start Friday.
As for Lindenwood, they’re coming off a rough effort versus Saint Louis with a 34-17 rebounding deficit and a whopping 66.7 percent shooting surrendered to the Billikens. The Lions may not be outgunned as badly here but I don’t think they’ll cover.
