BYU has recovered on a nice win streak since then though, taking out Wisconsin, Miami, Dayton, Cal Baptist, Clemson, UC Riverside, Pacific, Abilene Christian, Eastern Washington, Kansas State and Arizona State. Over the first 15 games of the year that makes for a nice 14-1 record in the books.
In their last outing Wednesday versus Arizona State, the Cougars went into the second half with a 45-30 edge. BYU closed the game on a 59-46 run and took a dominant win 104-76 in the end. Tops in scoring was Richie Saunders with 31 points and eight boards. Robert Wright added 27 points with four assists and three rebounds while AJ Dybantsa had 23 points with five assists and seven rebounds.
Utah Utes Betting Preview
Over on the Utes’ side, they came out of the gate strong this year with wins in each of their first five outings. Utah could only win three of the next seven games though, falling versus Cal Poly, Grand Canyon, California and Mississippi State. Since then it’s been three more losses to Washington, Arizona and Colorado. That gives the Utes a spotty 8-7 overall record in their first 15 games of the season.
Matched up against Colorado this week, the Utes were in the locker room with a 42-38 deficit. Utah didn’t get any better from there, falling further behind on a 43-35 second half on the way to a road loss 85-73. Don McHenry topped the team with his 24 points and seven rebounds while Keanu Dawes had 16 points with seven boards. Terrence Brown chipped in 16 points in the losing effort as well.

I’ll stick with BYU. The Cougars did a good job against a decent Arizona State team in their last outing, posting 57.4 percent shooting from the field, 45.2 percent (14-of-31) from outside and 80 percent (20-of-25) from the line. BYU also held a 37-30 rebounding edge and 42 points in the paint—but did commit 16 turnovers along the way. Still, the Cougars are cooking during this 11-game win streak. They’ve hit 72 or more points in all but one of those games (67 in a three-point win over Clemson).
As for Utah, they shot just 39.4 percent from the field with a 37-30 rebounding deficit in their latest loss to Colorado. The Utes have lost three straight while giving up 74 or more points in each of those defeats, but to be fair two were on the road and the other was against a spectacular Arizona team. Utah is in for another tough matchup here, but at least it’s at home.
