The Butler Bulldogs and the Georgetown Hoyas meet Wednesday in college basketball action from Capital One Arena in Washington. Here’s a Butler vs Georgetown prediction. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best Butler vs Georgetown pick. We will examine the recent form and player performances for both teams, as well as the recent betting trends and streaks pertaining to this matchup. As we conclude, we will tie it all together with a summary that produces a sensible pick for a favorable betting outcome in this game.

Butler Bulldogs Betting Preview

The Bulldogs kicked off the season with a nice 10-3 run. Next came losses to Creighton, Villanova, St. John’s and Xavier in order. Following victories versus Seton Hall, DePaul and Marquette came losses to St. John’s, Georgetown, Providence, Marquette and UConn. Across their first 25 outings of the year, that would give the Bulldogs a 13-12 overall record in the books.

In the Seton Hall game on Sunday, Butler walked off the floor at halftime with a 24-23 edge. The Bulldogs couldn’t hang on to the lead though, getting outscored 40-32 the rest of the way in an eventual loss on their home floor 63-56. Leading the team in scoring was Michael Ajayi, the only Butler player in double-digits with 21 points, 12 rebounds and two assists in 34 minutes.

Georgetown Hoyas Betting Preview

Over on the Hoyas’ side, they logged a 9-4 run over their first 13 games, then lost to St. John’s, DePaul, Seton Hall, Creighton, UConn and Villanova in succession. After wins versus Providence, DePaul, Butler and Creighton in the next four outings came losses to Villanova and UConn. Over their first 25 games of the season that gives the Hoyas a 13-12 record as well.

Matched up against UConn over the weekend, the Hoyas went into the locker room at the break with a 41-33 deficit. Georgetown got better from there on a  42-38 run but it wasn’t enough gas for the comeback in a 79-75 loss on the road. KJ Lewis topped the team on 24 points with nine rebounds and three assists while Vincent Iwuchukwu had 16 points with seven boards.

Butler vs Georgetown Prediction

I’ll stay with the Hoyas. Georgetown ended up with a pretty decent showing against a great UConn team in their road loss last weekend, shooting 43.6 percent from the field and 42.9 percent (12-of-28) from 3-point range. The Hoyas gave up 47.2 percent from the field on defense though, and got out-rebounded 31-28 along the way. Georgetown is still 4-2 in their last six games but they’ve now lost consecutive outings.

These teams last met up on January 31 in a 77-64 road win for the Hoyas. In that matchup Georgetown shot very well on 54.9 percent from the field and 50 percent (10-of-20) from 3-point range. The Hoyas gave up just 33.3 percent shooting on defense but did get outmuscled on the boards 29-26. I like Georgetown to put up another good showing in the home rematch on Wednesday.

Andrew Jett's Pick: Georgetown Hoyas -6
