Buffalo Bulls Betting Preview
The Bulls are coming off a forgettable season. They went 4-27 overall and 2-16 in the Mid-American Conference for a last-place finish in the standings. Buffalo finished the season with five straight losses to Western Michigan, Kent State, Toledo, Ohio and Northern Illinois.
Head coach George Halcovage will get another shot at improving Buffalo’s fortunes in his second year. He’ll start fresh with the departures of all the team’s veterans. Guards Ryan Sabol, Anquan Boldin, Bryson Wilson and Lloyd McVeigh all chose to stick around, though.
Old Dominion Monarchs Betting Preview
Over on the Monarchs’ side, they had a pretty frustrating season in 2023-24 themselves. Old Dominion went 7-25 overall with a 3-15 Sun Belt record. That result put the team in last place. The Monarchs were bounced out of the Sun Belt Tournament by Texas State in the first round.
This year Old Dominion gets a new head coach in Mike Jones. He’ll get back two starters from last year. Devin Ceaser (9.3 PPG) and Imo Essien (4.3 PPG) should see substantial time on the court, as will freshmen Jaden Johnson and Deion Ware.

Buffalo vs Old Dominion Prediction
I’ll stick with Old Dominion. The Monarchs aren’t exactly starting over from scratch in Jones’ first season at the helm, and they’ve added some intriguing players in the offseason. Old Dominion’s backcourt and depth are pretty well set, and Jones should be able to get the most out of his new players right out of the gate.
As for Buffalo, they’ve got some growing pains ahead with a hefty crop of freshmen and sophomores on the roster. The long-term payoffs should lead to much better records down the line, but for now the Bulls are firmly in rebuild mode.
