Boston University Terriers Betting Preview
The Terriers were able to match their win total from 2023-24 last season, going 16-16 overall. Boston U did slightly better in the Patriot League games with a 10-8 run, which put them behind Bucknell, American and Colgate in the standings. The Terriers went into the Patriot League Tournament on a 4-1 run (with a lone loss to American) but their postseason life was short. Boston U fell versus Navy in the opening game of the conference tourney on March 6.
This year the Terriers have one game in the books. That one came Monday versus Northeastern in a road matchup. Boston U was outscored 35-34 in the second half and had to go through overtime on the way to a 76-75 nail-biter victory. Boston’s leading scorer was Sam Hughes with 21 points and five boards. Ben Defty added 20 points with eight rebounds, and both Chance Gladden (five assists) and Ethan Okwuosa (five rebounds) chipped in 10 points apiece in the tight road victory effort.
Northwestern Wildcats Betting Preview
Over on the Northwestern side, they took a step back from the 21-10 heights of the 2023-24 campaign last year. The Wildcats posted a 17-16 overall run with a 7-13 stretch in Big Ten games. Northwestern finished ahead of only USC, Iowa, Nebraska, Penn State and Washington in the standings with that effort. After finishing off the regular season with losses to UCLA and Maryland, Northwestern beat Minnesota in the opening game of the Big Ten Tournament. The Wildcats lost to Wisconsin 70-63 in the next game, however.
Northwestern also has one game under their proverbial belt: a pretty routine home matchup versus Mercyhurst on Monday. In that one Northwestern posted 36 points in the first half and 34 more in the second on the way to a 70-47 blowout win. Top performer Arrinten Page doubled up on 18 points with 12 rebounds, and Nick Martinelli had 17 points with five boards in the victory. Also in double-figures was KJ Windham with 11 points and seven rebounds in 21 minutes of work on the floor in the victory effort.

Boston University vs Northwestern Prediction
I might take a stab on Boston U here. The Terriers had some trouble shaking off Northeastern in their opener this week, but they came away with a hard-fought overtime victory on the road. Boston U ended up shooting 45 percent from the field but also had a tepid 21 percent (6-of-28) from 3-point range and 14-of-20 (70 percent) from the line. Overall the stats were pretty balanced otherwise: a 34-33 edge in rebounding, a 38-36 deficit in the paint and 13 turnovers to the Huskies’ twelve. I’d like to see a better effort from outside in Friday’s game but if all goes well Boston U should be able to keep a relative pace.
As for Northwestern, they didn’t shoot very well themselves (36.5 percent) in their win over Mercyhurst but the 45-28 rebounding edge kept things in their favor. It also helped that the Lakers made just one of 18 attempts from 3-point range. Boston U should be a tougher customer in game two.
