Belmont managed to go 20-3 in their first 23 games of the season.
On Tuesday in game 24 versus Drake, Belmont went into the locker room with a pretty solid lead 51-43. The Bruins kept it up in the second half on a 52-47 stretch and eventually won the game 103-90 in a home matchup. Sam Orme was the leading team scorer on 22 points with four boards and four assists. Drew Scharnowski added 19 points with seven rebounds and three assists as well.
UIC Flames Betting Preview
Over on the UIC side, they weren’t looking so good over the first 15 games of the season. Back on January 4 as the calendar year began, the Flames held a rough 5-10 record. UIC has since fought their way back up above .500 though, taking wins over Southern Illinois, Illinois State, Northern Iowa, Drake, Evansville, Bradley and Indiana State for a 13-10 run over their first 23 outings.
Matched up against Murray State on Tuesday the Flames were in trouble at halftime, sporting a 40-33 deficit. UIC kept the pace from there on a 41-41 run but couldn’t close the gap any further in an 81-74 loss on the road. Rashund Washington was the top scorer on a double-double with 22 points and 12 rebounds in the defeat, while Ahmad Henderson had 20 points with four rebounds and four assists.

I might take a stab on UIC here. The Flames need a good bounce-back effort following a rather flat performance on the road against a pretty good Murray State team this week, though. UIC shot just 40.3 percent from the field in that one with 58.6 percent (17-of-29) at the line and a 44-37 rebounding deficit alongside 12 turnovers. The Flames are still 8-1 in their last nine games however, and the return to Chicago should help the team perform Friday.
These teams last saw each other back on December 13 in an 87-84 road loss for the Flames. In that one UIC blew a 43-30 halftime lead by giving up 58 percent shooting and 52 percent (13-of-25) from outside on defense. UIC shot pretty well themselves though (44.6 percent) and were fairly competitive on the boards and in the paint. The home environment should help provide a lift in the rematch, and I like UIC to capitalize on it.
