Army Black Knights Betting Preview

Army opened up their year with a November 3 matchup versus SUNY Maritime. The Knights took a lead 36-27 at the break, then hit a 37-22 advantage in a victory 73-47. Leading the way in the win was Kevin McCarthy with 18 points and three rebounds. Jackson Furman put up 17 points with three rebounds, and Jacen Holloway added his 13 points, three rebounds and one assist. In their second game versus St. Thomas-MN, Army was in trouble and down 44-29 in the locker room. The second half was better, but the Knights ended up losing 83-76 anyway. Leading the team in points were Jacen Holloway (four rebounds) and Join Iverson (seven rebounds) each with 16 points. Kevin McCarthy added 14 points and one board, and Jackson Furman had 15 points and two rebounds. Game three versus Duke was a 114-59 blowout loss at Christl Arena. The Black Knights were outscored 65-29 in the second half. Jackson Furman was the only player on the team in double-digits with 20 points. As for game four, the Knights lost again—this time 75-52 versus Harvard, despite a 36-31 first half that kept Army in the game up to that point.

In Tuesday’s matchup with Cornell, the Black Knights posted a 39-28 first half in an 86-73 win. Jorn Everson was tops on the team with 24 points, and Jacen Holloway had 22 points in 34 minutes of work.

Marist Red Foxes Betting Preview

Over on the Marist side, they have four games in the books this year so far. The Foxes were down by 10 points at halftime versus Xavier in their opener and made a comeback effort from there but still lost 66-62 in the end. Rhyjon Blackwell was the team’s top scorer with 24 points and four rebounds. In game two versus Dartmouth, Marist hit a 35-21 advantage in the second half on the way to a 75-56 win. Blackwell led the team once again with 16 points, six rebounds and two assists this time. Game three versus Vassar was another win for the Foxes 93-61. Justin Menard was the leading scorer this time with 16 points, five assists and four boards.

In their latest outing back on Sunday versus Harvard, Marist was outscored 33-30 in the second half. The result was a tough loss 56-54 at McCann Arena. Chandler Pigge was the top team scorer on 14 points and seven boards while Robert Hinton had 13 points and seven rebounds. Tey Barbour added 10 points and seven boards in the loss as well.

Army vs Marist Prediction

I’ll stick with Marist. The Red Foxes have shown a few flashes of their potential this year but they’re lacking some consistency through four games so far. In the tight loss to a pretty good Harvard team, Marist shot a sketchy 38 percent from the field, 66.7 percent (10-of-15) from the line and had 15 turnovers. A mild improvement in any one of those areas would have meant a victory for the Red Foxes. As it stands now, Marist has been below 63 points in two of their four games. The good news is that the Foxes should be able to match up well with a struggling Army team on Friday.
