Army Black Knights Betting Preview
Army had a pretty good run going in January and February, but aside from that it’s been a pretty choppy campaign. The Knights opened on a 6-8 run through their first 14 outings, then beat Loyola MD, Lehigh, Lafayette, Boston U, and Holy Cross before a loss to Navy. A 5-2 run came next with wins over Colgate, Holy Cross, Bucknell, Loyola MD, and American U amid losses to American U and Navy. Since then, however, it’s been three straight losses for the Knights versus Bucknell, Lafayette, and Lehigh. That gives Army a 16-14 overall run through 30 games so far this year.
In the home matchup with Lehigh on Saturday, the Knights were blitzed 42-29 in the first half. Army didn’t make up any ground from there, falling further behind on a 47-38 run for an 89-67 loss in the end. Leading the team in scoring was Jalen Rucker with 22 points, five rebounds, three steals, and two assists. Ryan Curry had 16 points and five assists off the bench, while AJ Allenspach had 15 points with five rebounds in his bench effort.
Colgate Raiders Betting Preview
Over on the Colgate side, they had a pretty miserable opening this year but they’ve done slightly better since early January. The Raiders went just 4-11 in their first 15 games, then hit a winning streak over Lehigh, Boston U, Navy, Lafayette, and Bucknell in the next five. Losses to American, Army, Lafayette, and Lehigh came in the next four, then a 4-3 run that featured wins over Loyola MD, Holy Cross, Navy, and Holy Cross again. The losses otherwise were versus Boston U, Loyola MD, and American University. That gives the Raiders a 13-18 record in total across their first 31 outings of the season.
In the home rematch versus American U on Saturday, the Raiders were trailing by eight points in the first half. Colgate kept the pace from there but didn’t get any closer in a 67-59 loss. Leading the scoring were Parker Jones (three rebounds; two assists) and Chandler Baker (five rebounds), each with 13 points. Jalen Cox added 10 points with four assists, three steals, and two rebounds in 28 minutes as the only other team player to reach double-figures.

Army vs Colgate Prediction
I’ll lean toward Colgate but I’m not touching this one. The Raiders didn’t look great against American in their latest loss, coughing up 14 turnovers for 12 Eagles points and only taking eight foul shots (making five). Overall Colgate didn’t shoot badly (45.1 percent) but it was a pretty uninspired loss. The Raiders have lost two of the last three with fewer than 66 points in both losses.
Colgate won at home versus Army on January 2 by a score of 71-59 but lost the road rematch 84-72 on January 29. I’m not thrilled about the Raiders right now, and they were highly permissive to Army in that road loss (52.4 percent shooting allowed). Still, the Knights are coming off a pretty ugly loss themselves featuring points from exactly one starter. This one could go a lot of different ways (most of them pretty sloppy) so I’m staying away. I’ll lean slightly toward Colgate, though.
